Rome ITALY Rome is a treasure trove of masterpieces, from culinary delights to great paintings and sculptures, as well as ambitiously modern architecture mixed with classical palazzos and villas. Visits to the Colosseum, the Forum Romanum as well as the Pantheon should be top of any visitor’s list.

Off the main tourist track, you’ll find places like the Roman houses under the Church of St John and St Paul, as well as the Via Appia, boasting numerous beautiful ruins along its path. At the Vatican City, gaze at the truly breathtaking Basilica of St Peter and the Sistine Chapel with its world-

famous painted ceilings. See if you can spot the Pope from the Square of St Peter.

Around the Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, you’ll find plenty of luxurious boutiques and delightful cafÊs where you can grab a cup of Italian coffee between shopping endeavors. For a

green escape, head to the Villa Borghese, a quaint park with lots of trees, ruins and of course the actual Villa Borghese. In the western end of the park, you can look out across the city from the Pincian Hill.

As the evening darkens the cityscape around you, head to the rooftop bar, where views of the lit-up dome of St Peter’s Basilica can be taken in, along with a glass of crisp Italian wine. Buried by the molten lava and ash of Vesuvius after it erupted in 79 AD, Pompeii was frozen in time until its rediscovery in the late 16th century.

You will walk along these extraordinary streets, learning more about the history and mysteries of the Romans that lived there almost 2,000 years ago. Visit preserved buildings, such as temples, villas, shops, and brothels, and marvel at frescoes and ruins of thermal baths. Go to the Forum to learn about the heart of political life in the city and see the remains of the Macellum Market and Red Light District.

Please note: this tour does not include Pompeii entrance fee (€15 payable locally) or transportation from and to your hotel. Pick-up time in front of the station is 8.50am and the tour lasts approximately 2 hours. * Available from 1st October – 31st October and 1st April – 30th June.
