BARCELONA

Barcelona, the colourful capital of Catalonia, is a city renowned for its sport, history and culture. Artists have thrived in the city for centuries, and the most famous is undoubtedly Antoni Gaudi, whose architectural designs adorn the city. Next to the seemingly endless restaurants and tapas bars of La Rambla, you’ll find the first of Gaudi’s masterpieces. The Palau Güell rises majestically from a rather non-descript street with its palatial splendour. Heading further north you’ll come to two of Gaudi’s most famous buildings, Casa Batlló, with its surreal façade of eggshaped windows, and the truly magnificent, albeit still unfinished, Sagrada Familia. With its steep spires, gargoyles and sheer size, this Catalan jewel is guaranteed to take your breath away. Other than Gaudi’s works, the city has castles, museums, quirky restaurants, trendy bars, theatres, churches, a beach and many other things to see and explore! The sands at Platja de la Barceloneta are welcoming and hospitable, with numerous attractions, restaurants and bars found down its pretty promenade.

GIBRALTAR

Connected to Spain via a narrow strip of land, on which the local airport is located, Gibraltar is centred on the monolithic limestone rock rising sharply out of the sea. In 1848 a Neanderthal skull was found in a cave here and it’s believed to be over 100,000 years old, making Gibraltar one of the earliest settlements in European history. Explore Saint Michael’s Cave, where numerous legends form the backdrop for this mythical place, which is today used as a venue for classical music concerts among other things. Next, take the cable car to the viewing platform at the top of the rock, from which you can gaze down at the city – and on a clear day even spot Morocco. You’ll find most of the city’s shopping and bar options located on Main Street, here you can sample some of the local food, which is a tasty blend of Spanish, Moroccan and British cuisines. Additionally, you can stumble across a local British pub, which might seem slightly out of place given the hot Mediterranean Sun, yet somehow it still fits perfectly with the scenery.

Sunborn Superyacht The Sunborn Gibraltar is a luxurious fivestar yacht moored in an idyllic marina on the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula. This 142-metre long floating hotel consists of 189 lavishly decorated rooms, a grand casino, charming bars, cocktail lounges and a restaurant; as well as featuring a large outdoor pool, sundeck and lush spa facilities. Each room aboard the yacht is spacious, luxurious and designed in light tones, where guests can enjoy splendid views of the Rock, marina and the glistening sea. A stay at the Sunborn Gibraltar places you right in the heart of the British enclave on the Spanish coast, where you can spend the day exploring the narrow streets, take in the panoramic views from the top of the Rock or just lounge by the pool. At night you can try your luck in the casino after a delicious dinner in the restaurant, and then toast your winnings on the deck while you gaze across the sea, lit up by the sparkling lights of Gibraltar.

BENAHAVIS

Placed between the sun-swept Costa del Sol and the rugged mountain landscape that rise as a sharp contrast to the white beaches, the small town of Benahavis offers a holiday that merges the modernity of the popular beaches with the more traditional hinterland of Southern Spain. The history of this charming hillside town stretches back to the Moorish kingdom of Al Andalus and throughout the narrow streets, you’ll find glimpses of the past. Benahavis is also renowned for its many tapas bars and restaurants, which is why it has deservedly earned the nickname of the Dining Room of the Costa del Sol, and while staying here, you need to assign plenty of time to just sample the many treats and tastes that are on offer here.

Gran Hotel Benahavis Facing the white-painted houses of the rest of the town, the Gran Hotel Benahavis Spa is placed on a serene hilltop surrounded by pine trees. From here it’s easy to explore the rest of the area, where you’ll find plenty of dining options as well as activities such as golf, swimming and hiking nearby. The Guadalmina River runs just next to the hotel and a walk by its calm water is a great way to discover what’s around you. The Gran Hotel Benahavis Spa itself also offers numerous ways to pamper and enjoy yourself. Lounge by the two outdoor swimming pools, framed by towering green hills in the background, treat yourself to a massage in the luxurious spa facilities and dine in elegance at the hotel’s own restaurant where you can sample the tasty delights of Southern Spain.
