Iceland Formed by volcanic rock and shaped over millions of years by Atlantic winds, the rugged beauty of Iceland is only matched by the warmth and friendliness of its locals. With the mesmerizing Northern Lights, famous Blue Lagoon, hot springs, active geysers and volcanos, visit Iceland for an experience that is out of this world.

One of the smaller capitals in Europe, Reykjavik is easy to explore on foot. Start your tour in front of Parliament House in the west of the city, before making your way eastwards to the truly stunning HallgrĂmskirkja church, which rises majestically above the rest of the city with its rocket-shaped spire. Swing by the Saga Museum for a fascinating

glimpse into the country’s Viking history, or head to the Imagine Peace Tower, a work of art that projects a beam of light up into the atmosphere. From the harbor you can go on a whale-watching tour, before returning for a well-deserved dinner at one of the nearby restaurants that specialize in sumptuous Nordic cuisine.

The town of Hafnarfjörður is only a 15-minute drive from the capital and ideally located for visiting the famous Blue Lagoon. Famous for its wildly shaped Lava formations, the harbor town has plenty of activities on offer, from swimming in geothermal pools to exploring the galleries and museums.

Northern Lights Mystery TOUR What’s included Bus fare Guided tour Pick-up from the hotel is up to 30 minutes before departure

What causes the Northern Lights? The Northern Lights are the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding. The most common auroral colour, a pale yellowish-green, is produced by oxygen molecules located about 60 miles above the earth. Rare, all-red auroras are produced by high-altitude oxygen, at heights of up to 200 miles. Nitrogen produces blue or purplish-red aurora.

When is the best time to watch the Northern Lights? Guaranteed darkness is the first important factor. The best season to see the northern lights in Iceland is from September to mid-April - these are the months where there are full dark nights. It is also not unheard of to see the lights as early as mid-August, once the final traces of the midnight sun summer are gone.

Please note: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and rely on weather conditions, whilst every effort will be made, we are unable to guarantee sightings
