› Good evening all and welcome back to Highbury Stadium for this evening’s Sky Bet League One clash against Neil Harris’ Millwall side. Neil has made a good start to his managerial career at the Den, and we hope his players and staff, along with the Lions’ supporters all have a safe trip back to London tonight. Millwall are certainly one of the form teams in the league and currently have the second best away form in this division, and this statistic alone shows the type of challenge that we face tonight. We ourselves though can take a great deal of confidence from our last two home games, and will be hoping to continue that this evening.
Beating Sheffield United in the JPT and following that up with an emphatic win against Swindon four days ago was pleasing. Over the course of the season thus far, one of the most frustrating aspects for us has been the consistency of our results. We have a great opportunity tonight however to put together back to back victories for only the second time this season. This is the challenge that I put to my players, and I hope we can replicate Saturday’s efforts once again. We have been drawn at home to Morecambe in the Northern semi-final of the JPT Trophy after a positive result and performance against the Blades. We showed strong mentality and a good level of concentration to win on penalties after a competitive 90 minutes of football. We will now face the Shrimps in a local derby and know it will be a difficult match as they are going well in League Two. I hope you all enjoy the game,
Steven

IntroducingMILLWALL › Millwall are tonight’s visitors to Highbury Stadium for a Sky Bet League One fixture under the floodlights against Steven Pressley’s Fleetwood Town side.
It would be in his first spell with the club that he would really become a fan favourite FO OTBA on the terraces, as Harris won L L L the in-house player of the A year award during his first full term.

He later helped the Lions to a second division championship title in 2000/01, as he found the net on 27 occasions for his club, winning the golden 1885 boot award for being the top scorer throughout the four English professional leagues.
A native of Orsett, Essex, Harris started his career at non-league side Cambridge City before

Millwall will be hoping to continue their current good form, which has seen them unbeaten in the past five encounters in both league and cup competition.

The South London outfit are currently sitting in ninth upon their return to the third-tier following relegation from the Championship in May, with the Lions two-points adrift of the play-off positions.
Under the management of Dennis Wise, Harris found himself loaned out to Cardiff City in 2004 in what was to be a brief stay at Ninian Park. Harris’ first stay at Millwall came to an end following the expiry of his Cardiff loan, with the prolific striker, who was nicknamed the Bomber by supporters, scoring 93 times in 233
appearances during a six-year spell. A move to the East Midlands to sign for Nottingham Forest was next on the agenda, as he moved to the City Ground for an undisclosed fee after the Reds were relegated from the Championship. During the 2005/06 campaign, the player spent a term on loan with Gillingham, and got his name on the scoresheet six times at the Priestfield Stadium. Subsequently, Harris returned to Millwall for a second time in January 2007, just a day after leaving Forest. A further four-years would be spent at the capital club, before he went onto retire with Southend United in 2013. Following on from retirement, Harris took up the position of Millwall’s U21 manager, spending a short spell as caretaker manager in 2013 before taking the job permanently in March 2015.

Aiden O’Brien Irish striker Aiden O’Brien currently leads the Lions’ goalscoring charts this season after netting nine goals in all competitions. His first, second and third goals of the campaign came on the 12th September, as he fired a hat-trick away to Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. O’Brien’s league form continued the following month when he scored in wins over Swindon Town and Sheffield United respectively.
In addition, he also has two goals to his name in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy after scoring in victories over Northampton Town and Plymouth Argyle. A product of Millwall’s youth system, O’Brien spent time on loan at Staines Town and Hayes and Yeading during the early parts of his career. However a fruitful loan spell at Aldershot Town in 2013 brought his name to attention, as he scored three goals in five games for the Shots.

Communitytrust › Midfielder Nick Haughton and goalkeeper Aleks Gogic recently visited Royles Brook Primary School in Thornton as the Club continued to build strong relationships in the area. Fleetwood Town’s community friendly Poolfoot Farm training base is just a stone throw away from Royles Brook, as Haughton and Gogic took time out of their schedules to visit the primary school. The pair, regularly involved in Steven Pressley’s matchday squad had the unusual tasks of playing Boccia. For anyone that hasn’t heard of Boccia, is a precision ball sport, similar to bowls. Haughton and Gogic both had a great time with the primary school children as they took part in a new sport for everyone involved.

› Skipper Nathan Pond was accompanied by Tyler Forbes, Antoni Sarcevic, Danny Andrew and Jamie Proctor to a football session at Hambleton Primary School. The five Cod Army players interacted with the school children and even had a game of football in the school’s sports hall. Defender Andrew, who has recently returned to full fitness following injury, told the Club website that the players love these types of visit and putting a smile on the children’s faces. He said: “It is great to be able to put a smile on all of the kids’ faces. It is a great feeling to see them all laughing and smiling when we played football with them. YEARS OF TRANSFORMING GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL
It was also goalkeeper Gogic’s first player appearance following his move to Fleetwood Town earlier this season.
“It is good that we are visiting schools all around the area. Hambleton is not far away from Fleetwood but it is good to get around and see different people.
Mike Lee, the Club’s Community Sport Co-ordinator said: “Both players had a great time interacting with the youngsters.
“All the lads want to get involved with community appearances and it is great that we can help spread the Fleetwood Town name.”
“It is important as a Club that we continue to communicate and reach out to the local community. We are consistently delivering sessions in the Thornton area and the visit to Royles Brook was a positive for all involved. “It was a slightly different type of activity they were involved in but everyone was smiling and laughing which is the most important thing.” 6

BALLY WANTS YOUR VOTES FOR FIFA PUSKASAWARD › Town striker David Ball has urged supporters to get behind him one last time as the voting for the FIFA Puskas goal of the year award closes this week. Ball’s sublime effort against Preston North End has been nominated alongside the likes of Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi who are also in the running for the honour. The former Manchester City youth team man hasn’t been short of support, with Premier League strikers Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy both getting behind Ball via Twitter. He has also appeared on a number of Radio and TV stations across the globe, and was recently interviewed by American news programme CNN. Closer to home, the likes of the Lad Bible, Match of the Day, BBC Radio Five Live and Sky Sports News have all covered his amazing feat. With voting set to close soon, Ball spoke exclusively to #codarmy, the Club’s official matchday programme, to urge fans far and wide to vote for his chip. He said: “It’s the last push now to get into the final three. Obviously on a personal note I would be delighted to get through to the final stage but it is a huge positive for the football club too. “It keeps the Club in the limelight and hopefully the goal will reach the final three. 8

“It has been a crazy last few weeks. I am obviously concentrating on my week to week responsibility of playing football for Fleetwood Town and aiming to help the Club push up the League One table. “I have had so many phone calls and messages regarding the goal from a variety of different people. The press lads here at the Club have really looked after me so it has all gone smoothly. “It has been a memorable and great journey. It is great publicity for the Club and it has been a huge honour for me to represent England in some sort of way.
Blackpool this weekend. “For both sets of supporters it will be a memorable match this weekend at Blackpool. I know the lads are taking it as any other game with the target to take all three points. “We hope there will be as many Fleetwood Town fans at Bloomfield Road as possible cheering us on. The lads know how loyal our supporters are, as they travel with the team and they get right behind us.
“I think Messi’s phonebook will be a bit bigger than mine! The likes of Vardy and Sturridge have shown their support. It is brilliant that so many people are trying to help me.”
“But first we have to focus on tonight’s match against Millwall which is equally as important. They are a big club that dropped out of the Championship last season.
Ball’s focus however is very much on helping the Cod Army climb away from the lower reaches of the league, and is relishing a local derby against

again it is great for Fleetwood Town to playing a team the size of Milwall. “We have come so far as a Club in the last two years and it just shows what pedigree we are at and what type of team we are.” To vote for David’s goal, please visit – www. fifa.com

tetteh: league is priority for youthteam › Midfielder Michael Tetteh wants to put the disappointment of being knocked out of the FA Youth Cup behind him and focus on winning the league this season. The Young Cod Army bowed out at the second round stage of the competition, but have been performing impressively in the North West Youth Alliance League this term. Nathan Rooney’s side occupy a top half finish at present, and Tetteh believes there is nothing stopping them from clinching the title this year. He said: “We played well against Accrington in the FA Youth Cup and dominated the game, but at times decisions just didn’t go our way. “It’s a change of focus for us now because our focus has gone from the cup and it’s all about
the league and trying to win it. “The new training regime and the first years coming in have made a big difference to us. The change in the structure and the change in playing style has benefited us. “Recently we’ve drawn a lot of games which we should have won, but I’m not really worried because we create plenty of chances and don’t concede too many. “Nathan has given us the license to play and create our own chances up top. The emphasise is all very much on the players instead of us being guided. “It’s all on us when we get into that final third, and he’s given us that structure in the middle of the park and defensively, so we’re pretty sound. “My season has been going good
so far. When I came back from pre-season I was fit but then I picked up an unfortunate injury. “That didn’t phase me though and I felt good when I came back from Austria. We started the season very well and I think I’ve done well. “Mamadou Dhabi has been massive for us this season but I knew he could do that. It was just a case of him turning up and performing. “He can be a matchwinner for us most of the time but it’s all about applying himself. He works so hard for the team. “I’d like to stay here because it’s a Club that gives chance to youth and development players to come through and prove themselves. “It gives us the drive because if we know we can make it to the development squad then we can from there and hopefully go through to the first team. “I’m confident and think I’ve been playing well enough this season, but there’s always things you need to work on to push yourself to the next level.” Print Partner
