MEET OUR SPEAKERS CHAIRMAN - RAIL SESSION John Greaves, UKTI

He was the founding chair of the US RFID standards group, led the European Spectrum Initiative, was the leader of the GTAG program for EAN.UCC, and is a founding member of the original AIM RFID Group, the Industry Association. John has served with distinction in the standards and equipment regulation bodies, ETSI, CEPT, CEN, ISO as well as addressing, and being a member of, many of the leading industry bodies, Institute of Logistics, CIES, ICSC, IATA and as a representative to Auto ID Center at MIT. He is a Director and Board Member of the LPRA (Low Power Radio Association), A Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He was recently appointed Secretary – General of the LMC (Last Mile Consortia) which is a body of expertise involving leading rail contractors and developers in achieving cost effective solutions for Sovereign and corporate world rail investment. The LMC, and John, is based in Dubai. John Greaves has been actively involved in AIDC (Bar Code, Radio Frequency technology, Biometrics) for nearly 35 years. His pioneering work in the area of Global Rail Technology ranging from the security of infrastructure to the operational stability and advanced, innovative solutions has seen him contribute to the overall efficiency of rail investment from Chile, to South Africa to the BNSF network in the USA. His most recent engagement, leading the team involved in the consideration of technology for Etihad Rail resulting in an in depth analysis of the most suited deliverables for the GCC member railroad. This study and solution matrix provides for Inventory Management, employee safety, trackside monitoring, locomotive and rolling stock maintenance along with passenger and freight facilities design.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Adel Abdaullah Alghaberi, First Economic Affairs Officer, Infrastracture & Trade

Logistic, Regional Integration Section , Economic Development & Globlization Divison, ESCWA, UAE Mr Alghaberi worked for around ten years in private business mainly trading and banking. He joined the government body as an investment promotion officer within the investment authority for five years. He was part of the negotiations team of Yemen’s accession to the WTO for around seven years covering various international trade issues and solely reasonable for services trade. He then headed a trade development unit for four years responsible for implementing an internationally funded projects aiming to improve exports of Yemen and increase its participation in international trade. Mr Alghaberi then joined the UN ESCWA in 2012 as a First Economic Affairs Officer within the Regional Integration Section covering issues of regional trade integration, trade logistics, WTO issues, transport and trade facilitation issues.

Adel Mohammed Al-Roumi, President, Kuwait Authority of Partnership Projects

(KAPP), Kuwait, Adel Mohammed Al-Roumi is the President of Kuwait Authority of Partnership Projects (KAPP) that involves operating Kuwait’s PPP program. Al-Roumi completed his bachelor’s degree in the US; He started his career in New York, where he worked for the Kuwait Investment Authority. He was later called to the Kuwait Investment Office in London. AL Roumi has been a board member of prestigious Asian financial institutes like Dao Hang Bank , First capital corp. and Sassoon holding. Also he joined the board of Arab African investment bank for 7years and locally he was the Vice Chairman of the Board and the Managing director of Kuwait Small projects Development Co, and he was a board member of Kuwait cement. He is currently a member in Kuwait Foreign Investment Bureau. In addition to the Higher Committee since 2009.

Dr. Ali Obaid Al-Yabhouni, UAE Governor for OPEC, CEO- Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (ADNATCO) & National Gas Shipping Company Ltd (NGSCO), UAE Dr. Ali Obaid Al-Yabhouni has worked in the ADNOC Group of Companies since 1992 in a wide range of senior positions. From 1998-2007 he was Head of the Marketing Research and Analysis Department before being appointed Manager for Planning and Group Coordination in April 2007. In November 2007 he became General Manager of National Gas Shipping Company Ltd (NGSCO). From January 2009 to date he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of both Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (ADNATCO) and NGSCO. He has been involved in OPEC affairs since 1999 and is currently UAE Governor for OPEC. He is also a Board Member of Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (TAKREER); Chairman of TAKREER Board Advisory Committee. Dr. Al-Yabhouni is Chairman, UAE Shipping Association and Chairman of DNV GL Technical Meetings UAE as well as the Lloyd’s Register Middle East and Africa Advisory Technical Committee. Alen Nikolovski, Executive Principal, Aedas

Alen is an Executive Principal at Aedas and has accumulated extensive design and project experiences in the field of architecture. Over the years, Alen has focused on the infrastructure and transport sectors and has been actively involved in the development of design concepts to the implementation of these projects. His portfolio of infrastructure projects includes a number of Mass Rapid Transit stations in Singapore and the Dubai Light Rail Transit Project in United Arab Emirates. In addition, Alen’s experience extends to commercial, office, retail and residential projects in various cities worldwide. He has overseen projects such as the design implementation and construction administration of 26 Chanel international boutiques and was a part of the team that developed the winning scheme for Palm Beach Opera House, West Palm Beach of Florida in the United States of America.

Dr. Ani Atanasova, CEO, Pixelhunters, UAE Dr. Ani Atanasova has a PhD on quantum and optoelectronics and a master degree in visual and optical communications. She is the CEO of Pixelhunters – an award winning company that supports clients all over the world and specializes in 3D animation, virtual reality and gamification.

Capt. Eng. Marzouq Saeed Al Zaabi, Abu Dhabi Police, Traffic Engineering and

Road Safety Department, UAE Capt Eng. Marzouq Saeed Al Zaabi is currently working on different projects such as Red light and speed violation systems, intelligent transportation systems, and designing and developing Smart Traffic Centre. Capt. Eng. Marzouq graduated from the American University Of Sharjah (2005-2009) with Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (GPA 3.34) . After that he proceed his education at Cranfield University, (2010-2011), Bedfordshire, UK with MSc by Research in the School of Applied Science with a thesis about Adopting Open Innovation Model for the Transportation Organizations of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He participated and Won 2nd place in IEEE Myron Zucker Industry Applications Student Design Awards 2009.

With over 15 years of professional experience, he has been involved in various phases of many projects including, structural design and functional design for both new design and retrofit projects. His experience as a consultant includes evaluating, planning, and recommending solutions to parking issues around the country and abroad. Dr. Fethi Filali, Head of Technology Development & Applied Research , Qatar

Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), Doha, Qatar Dr. Fethi Filali is the Head of Technology Development & Applied Research at Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC). He is leading a group of about 20 scientists at QMIC in charge of the technology development of QMIC’s Masarak and Hawaa’k solutions, Labeeb IoT platform, WaveTraf sensor, and Connected Vehicles technologies. He holds a Ph.D. and Habilitation degree in Computer Science from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2002 and 2008, respectively. He is the Ph.D. Supervisor of ten Ph.D. students and published more than 120 research papers and several patents. He is a senior member of IEEE and active member of IEEE ITS and IEEE Communications Societies.

Essam Mohamed Amin Selim, Consultant for Railways, oil, Gas & Energy

Ezra Kramer, CPP, AICP, Project Manager, Walker Parking Consultants, UAE

Ezra Kramer, CPP, AICP, is a Project Manager in the Abu Dhabi office of Walker Parking Consultants, the largest consulting firm in the world devoted solely to parking. Ezra is part of the “study” side of Walker’s consultancy which provides innovative solutions for projects related to planning, strategy, financial feasibility, shared parking analyses, parking management and operations consulting, public-private partnerships, etc. He has managed over 200 projects in the US and abroad during his 13 year career with Walker. The solutions provided within studies he completed has saved developers millions of dollars through shared parking analyses, and helped government agencies streamline, adjust management policies and strategies, and introduce innovative technology to better serve the public.

Francis Sykes, Sales & Marketing Director, IXXI, France

Francis Sykes is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique, Telecom Paristech, France, and Sheffield University, England. After 3 years in applied research, he worked for 10 years in the mobile phone industry, in research and development, product marketing and finally in product strategy. Francis joined RATP in 2003 where he has held various management positions in ITS including 8 years as head of engineering, ticketing. Since 2013, he is seconded to Ixxi, an RATP subsidiary specialised in ticketing and passenger information where he is Sales and Marketing director He is the author of 10 international patents.

Gil Howarth BSc CEng FICE FCILT FRSA, CEO, Howarth & CoFounder, UK

National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering Gil graduated from the University of Sheffield with an honors degree in Chemical Engineering and then joined British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) at Sellafield where he worked for 14 years, mainly in project management. In 1989, Gil joined British Rail as Project Director for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL; now High Speed 1). In 1992 he was appointed Managing Director of Union Railways Limited, the company formed to take the project into the private sector. At the onset of privatisation of the railways, he was appointed Director, Major Projects of Railtrack Plc. Gil left Railtrack in 1998 to form his own management company, and has since worked on railway projects in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Far East. In 2009, Gil co-founded the National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering where he was CEO from January 2011 to June 2015

E. Stephen Goldie, City Planning Advisor, Al Ain Municipality, Department of Municipal Affairs Stephen Goldie has over thirty-five years’ experience in town planning and urban design, more than twenty years of this at executive level. His urban planning and design experience ranges from regional and metropolitan strategy to complex inner-city design, from high-level policy and legislation to seemingly intractable local disputes, and from detailed urban design to complex management issues. Many of these projects have been distinguished by awards, but more importantly, more than fifty of the projects that he has led, or for which he was the senior planner, are either built or being implemented. Currently, Stephen is employed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs to facilitate the development and maintenance of Al Ain as a livable and sustainable city.

Mr. Javier Gallardo Martinez, Managing Director, PORTIC BARCELONA SA (PORTIC) Javier joined PORTIC as Chief Technical Officer in 2001 and promoted to Deputy Managing Director assuming the general management of the company in 2005. Also having a long experience in managing and leading consultancy PCS project in different countries. He has directly contributed into European R+D projects related to Port Community System and Port Logistic Like ( Cassandra, CORE, B2MOS ..) He is member of the Executive Committee of the INTERNATIONAL PORT COMMUNITY SYSTEM ASSOCIATION (IPCSA) and coleads the Business Application Committee and the Track & Trace Initiative.

Stephen Lambert, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Road Safety Advisor, UAE Stephen Lambert is road safety engineer and has been the Road Safety Audit Team Leader at the City of Abu Dhabi Municipality since April 2014 with responsibility for overseeing the RSA procedure and advising on other road safety related policies and strategies. Since graduating from University of Ulster, in Ireland in 1995 he has worked almost exclusively in road safety engineering and has contributed at many conferences in Ireland, Britain and Europe covering a wide range of topics relating to road safety engineering. Stephen is a Chartered Engineer, (CEng) and Member of the Institute of Engineers in Ireland (MIEI) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, (FCIHT). Stephen has additional qualifications in Forensic Collision Investigation, Road Design, Traffic, junction and signal design and analysis and Road Safety Audit, (CoC). Prior to joining the ADM Stephen worked for the National Roads Authority in Ireland as a Regional Road Safety Engineer from 1996. During this period he pioneered and developed many initiatives to improve road safety in Ireland, including the development of the National Collision Database and the Collision Remedial Measures programmes, the development of the Traffic and Transport Assessment Guidelines and Road Safety Audit System.

Graham is a Senior Engineering Contracts Manager, experienced in the implementation of large and small railway signalling and control system projects. With over 30 years’ experience in the rail industry, he has been involved in the majority of signalling and control systems upgrade programmes on the London Underground in the U.K. His career has taken him from signalling testing, installation management and centralised control implementation for the Central Line Project during the 1990s; running the site operation for Westinghouse Rail Systems Limited to deliver enhancements to the Jubilee Line; to delivering CBTC Communication Based Train Control on the Jubilee and Northern Line Upgrade Project, where he led the contract engineering management team for Tube Lines Limited.

Jukka Riivari, CEO, LeanPark

Loay Ghazaleh, a 1986 Texas A & M Civil Engineer with MBA 2000 Finance from Thunderbird – Arizona, is backed by over 22 years diverse experience in government and private businesses spanning several sectors and several regions. Loay is currently serving as the Advisor to H.E. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works in the Kingdom of Bahrain with primary focus on major infrastructure and PPP. Marc G.E. Evertse, Executive Commercial Manager, SOHAR Industrial Port

Company After working for eight years as a civil engineer in developing countries in Africa and Southeast Asia across a variety of drainage and land reclamation projects, Marc joined Port of Rotterdam in 1991. He became an all-round consultant and project manager in the Training and Consultancy Department of the Port, and also contributed to the formation of the initial joint venture to create the Port of SOHAR. After three-years as Business Development Manager for the Chemical Industry Department, Marc became Area Manager for a large part of the world, in which marketing was his main focus. As Senior Project Manager, he successfully conducted a major project to coordinate the business plans of the 12 major ports in India; he developed and implemented Port of Rotterdam’s strategy for Brazil; and initiated and managed the Porto Central project, which became Rotterdam’s second foreign joint venture in 2014.

Industry In his role at CPG Research and Advisory Mohamed is responsible for investment management and research strategies for multiple classes of assets to Australian pension funds, government institutions and also private investment firms. Prior to joining CPG, Mohamed built more than 10 years’ experience in many aspects of professional investment management, with leadership responsibility taken for multiple investment management and investment consulting roles. These included senior advisory roles at AXA Asia Pacific, Commonwealth Bank and Superfund. Sonal Ahuja, Regional Director- MENA and India, PTV Group

Sonal Ahuja has over 19 years’ experience in the design and management of Intelligent Transport Infrastructure, ITS, transport planning, modelling and research projects for clients in the EU, Middle East and India. He has extensive experience of work and delivery and managing projects and clients in USA, U.K., UAE, Europe, South Africa, France, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Qatar, Bahrain, China & Hong Kong. He worked on designing and delivering several ITS and Road Safety systems across the world. Sonal coordinate’s delivery excellence in all transport infrastructures for the MENAI region and is responsible for overseas business development in the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. He has delivered research projects involving traffic simulation, road safety and strategic modeling and transport economics. He developed multi-objective optimization for Traffic Signal Control for Urban networks with a focus on optimizing networks for pedestrian and environmental benefits using Evolutionary Algorithms and Fuzzy Logic. This was his PhD topic at Imperial College London.

Thomas is the Founder and Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE.com – a holistic platform aimed at increasing the awareness for road safety in the UAE, by leveraging the key stakeholders governmental entities, corporate supporters, the media and the individual traffic participants of the UAE. Prior to the launch of RoadSafetyUAE.com in Q4/2013, Thomas worked initially for Tyrolia (skiing industry) in global product management in 1990/1991. Mid 1991 he started to work for Coca-Cola’s Central European Region and later for Coca-Cola Beverages in the fields of Trade Marketing, Key Account Group Management and Brand Group Management. The client is liable to make payment in full to Fleming Gulf within 5 working days from the date of issue on the invoice. Fleming Gulf reserves the right to refuse entry to any client who has not paid the invoiced amount in full. The client may be requested to provide a credit card guarantee against the outstanding amount if full payment has not been received. All sales are final. There will be no refunds for any cancellations, partial or in full, made by the client. If the client decides to cancel, the full invoice remains payable. Fleming Gulf can grant to the client a Credit in full for the amount paid by the client to Fleming Gulf if the cancellation is made prior to a period of 30 days before the date of the conference. The Credit will be valid for one year from the date of issue and is redeemable, up to the value of the Credit, for participation at any Fleming Gulf conference or training. In the event of a cancellation made by the client less than 30 days prior to the date of the conference, Fleming Gulf will not make a refund, nor will issue a Credit.

Fleming Gulf reserves the right to modify the content, timing, speakers or venue of the conference should circumstances dictate. The event may be postponed or cancelled due to acts of terrorism, war, extreme weather conditions, industrial action, force majeure or any event beyond the control of Fleming Gulf. Should such a situation arise, Fleming Gulf endeavours to reschedule the conference. However, Fleming Gulf cannot be held responsible for any cost, damage or expenses incurred by the client as a consequence of the conference being postponed or cancel. The conference fee does not include travel costs, hotel accommodation, transfers or insurance. Any dispute arising under or by virtue of this Registration Form shall be settled before the competent Court in the United Arab Emirates.
