CELEBRATE
ABILITY Lisa Hamilton-Johnson President | TLC Mobility Foundation
As president and the founder of TLC Mobility Foundation, I am proud to welcome you to the Blue Carpet: Celebrating Ability. We are excited to co-host this evening with Palm Beach State College because we feel they are one of our state’s finest educational institutions that can play a key role — especially for students with disabilities and adults — in his or her quest for success. They offer quality, affordability, smaller classroom sizes, and accessibility right here in our own community.
We especially salute our Class of 2013 PROMability winners Danielle Schops and Janessa Sanctious. They are amazing young ladies and represent the future of our community. Enjoy our featured international artist Jossie Cordoba who has worked tirelessly with her team to provide us all an evening of enjoyment, our amazing mistress of cermonies Ashleigh Walters of FOX Channel 29, and actor Danny Murphy covering the “blue carpet”.
Recognizing the beauty, strength and resilience of 164 million people in the world with disabilities, which includes 54 million right here in the United States, tonight, we focus on and CELEBRATE ABILITY.
Tonight would not be possible without the collaboration and support of our sponsors, supporters, and volunteers. Many of our business sponsors have special promotions if you mention “BLUE CARPET”. I invite you to visit them and let them know how and why you support them.
We are thankful for the contributions from our differently-abled high achievers whose affirmations and brilliant lives provide inspiration for all of us.
No matter what your reason for coming tonight, I hope your life will be forever open to recognize - celebrate - and inspire ABILITY!

CLASS OF 2013
Danielle Schops West Boca Community High School Palm Beach County
WINNER
At this time in my life as a senior at the age of 17, I am undecided as to where I would like to attend college. On the other hand there is one thing that I am definitely sure of and that is that at a very young age my heart has been set on being a child psychologist. During my childhood I have been through a lot. I have a disability due to cancer since I was a baby. As a result of my disability I have been a victim of bullying through elementary, middle and high school. I have had things thrown at me, I have been verbally made fun and not included in many things. Sometimes I used to look at myself and ask “why me?” Till this day I still have those same issues. Becoming a child psychologist has been my dream because I believe I could offer great advice to the young people in our society. I would strongly enjoy helping children and young adults with their problems whether it be their personality, social, emotional and or behavioral issues. I feel that due to my past experiences that I can share and better understand their problems and help them through them. I know that I can make a difference in their lives and help them become better people that can cope with what life throws at them. My goal is to go to the right college that suits me best. I intend to earn a PHD in psychology. With a PHD I will not only be able to learn, understand, and apply research that I have learned but I can also conduct it as well. Having a PHD, my career options would be more flexible. It would require extra years of studying and practice, but another advantage of getting a PHD is that it is more likely to offer more funding. After earning my degree, I intend on completing a supervised clinical internship. I find that it will be great practice, and it is a requirement to becoming a licensed child psychologist in the state I wish to work in. I would love to work in hospitals, courts, and private mental health offices. In these work locations I can work directly with clients and their families, diagnose mental disorders, evaluate clients, administer psychological tests and conduct therapy sessions amongst other things. This is the path I choose to follow and succeed for my life.
