Modern LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) and design floorings are characterised by solidity, easy installation and a wide range of designs. Products made out of recyclable raw materials find high demand in flooring applications, and the new STEICOunderfloor LVT follows the trend to more sustainability. The insulation boards are made from natural wood fibre and are adaptable to floating installations of LVT and vinyl coverings of the MMFA sub group 2.
With an impact sound reduction of 19 dB, the boards provide an excellent acoustic insulation. The special underside surface compensates punctual unevenness. The high compressive strength (>600 kPa) ensures maximum security and protects the flooring. With a thickness of only 2.3mm, STEICOunderfloor LVT is perfectly adapted to new build as well as renovations, where the new flooring can often only have a limited thickness.
The underlay is compatible with underfloor heating systems. One pack contains 15 panels of STEICOunderfloor LVT, which is enough to cover 7m 2 . Thanks to their 790 x 590 mm format, they are easy to handle and quick to install. They can easily be cut with a utility knife.

STEICOunderfloor LVT is free from binding agents and contributes to a healthy living environment. STEICO woodfibre insulation boards are ecological and natural products. The wood used in our products is certified by the international organisations FSC and PEFC. It comes from responsible forestry to protect the forest ecosystem for future generations. We use fresh untreated wood from forest residues or by-products from the sawmill industry and transform it in high performance insulation.

1 cubic metre of wood binds up to 1t CO 2 . In the form of STEICO insulation materials, the CO 2 remains removed from the atmosphere over the lifetime of the product. Wood fibre insulation reduces the concentration of CO 2 in the atmosphere. Wood fibre insulation also provides security and protection, and it remains stable and durable.
About STEICO STEICO develops, produces and markets ecological construction products made of renewable raw materials. STEICO is the European market leader for wood fibre insulation materials. STEICO is positioned as a system provider for ecological residential construction and is the only manufacturer in the industry to offer an integrated wooden construction system in which insulation material and construction components supplement each other. The Munich-based company’s products are used in new construction and when renovating roofs, walls, ceilings, floors and facades. STEICO’s products allow the construction of future-proof, healthy buildings with a particularly high quality of living and a healthy atmosphere. an integrated damp screen will suffice. With flexible flooring, however, those small patches of unevenness have to be eliminated by means of a harder subfloor (or, obviously, by means of levelling). The rule stipulates that the subfloor may be pressed in by a maximum of 0.3mm when under pressure of 300Kpa.
Plate or double plate In our articles on floating fitting we have often drawn a distinction between subfloors on rolls and subfloors in plate form. In view of the above with regard to density, here we find ourselves mainly on the territory of plate subfloors. For some time now, a number of specialists have been offering double plate systems. The subfloor consists of a bottom and top plate. A material frequently used for these plates is MDF. In some cases the plates have to be fitted diagonally, whilst in other cases they are glued to each other. One of the most well known subfloor specialists offers various types of such glued subfloor plates. A soft bottom plate and a hard top plate is a perfect combination for subfloors in the case of a flexible final floor.
Subfloors in rolls Some producers promote a subfloor which admittedly appears in roll form, but which nevertheless offers a sufficiently high density for fitting flexible flooring. In a number of cases these subfloors will have an integrated damp screen.
Acoustic subfloors The full glueing of vinyl immediately yields a striking acoustic benefit. Luxury Vinyl Tiles (and Planks), fitted with a click system, have a lot in common with laminate as regards acoustic features. In some cases a certain degree of sound reduction will be expected from the subfloor. A lot of subfloors which are recommended for these tiles also offer an impact noise reduction of 10dB.
Floor heating For both full glueing of flexible floors and for floating fitting of LVT, the market provides for subfloors with a heat resistance which allows them to be fitted on top of floor heating. For use in combination with floor cooling, producers once again stress the importance of condensation monitoring. One specialist
