7 Ways to celebrate earth day Earth day is celebrated on April 22 every year, and we wanted to share some easy, inexpensive ways to help you become more eco-friendly.

1. Greenify your laundry - Some common fabrics like lycra, cotton and nylon don’t need to be washed in hot water, and since 90% of the energy used by washing machines is used to heat the water, you can save a lot of energy by turning the dial to cold. Not to mention the money you will save on a lower electric bill.

2. Plant a tree - We all know how trees help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, clean pollution, and provide homes for wildlife, so why not plant one.

3. Ride your bike - Winter is over and spring is upon us. Use your bike to commute to work or school and to run errands.

4. Say no to plastic - Buying bottled water is a luxury that

good quality stainless steel water bottle and don’t leave home without it.

5. Pay bills online - Paying bills online is about more than saving money on stamps. Snail mail has a negative environmental impact that can easily be changed. Signup to an online bill-paying program with your bank, and any other company that you can.

6. Recycle, and get paid for it! - You can get some extra change for recycling your old electronics, especially cellphones. Instead of tossing them out, participate in an electronics recycling program.

7. Feed the birds - Make a bird feeder for your garden. Not only will this encourage the local bird population, but you

no one can afford right now, especially the planet. Close

can use objects that would have otherwise been thrown

to 90% of all plastic bottles wind up in landfills. Invest in a

away to create a beautiful work of art for your backyard.

There are a number of natural solutions available, just be sure to read the ingredients, and look for natural fragrances that have been scented with essential oils, rather than “fake” scents. Making your own earth-friendly cleaning products is not as daunting as you may think. You could make them with less than 2 ingredients; try out the easy-to-use natural solutions below. Natural everyday cleaning solution This cleaning solution can be used for counter tops, cabinets, and everyday cleaning. Make up a solution of vinegar and water. Add a few drops of lemon essential oil to make your cleaning solutions smell extra fresh.

Natural stubborn stain cleaning solution For tougher stains like coffee rings, dried on food and drink spills that are very sticky, eliminate them with the recipe below:

1. Combine 3 parts baking soda with 1 part water to make the paste.

2. Apply the baking soda paste with a damp cloth, lightly dampened recycled paper towel or even with your fingers. Allow it to sit for an hour or two so that it can work on the stubborn stain.

3. Remove with a damp cloth. Rinse the surface of the counter with a fresh cloth, as there will be a residue left after removing it. It is harmless but a little rough to touch if you do not wipe it off completely.
