and in October we are delighted to be presenting Middle Ground Theatre Company’s production of Agatha Christie’s A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED with Judy Cornwell as Miss Marple (see pages 4-5). For our part in the national celebrations we are holding a special birthday Gala Performance on Friday 30th

WELCOME

2015 marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Dame Agatha Christie

October (see page 31). Following Middle Ground’s Classic Ghosts and The

Business of Murder we know this is going to be a great night of theatre. The INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL OF GREAT BRITAIN is back in November and we already have an amazing line-up (see pages 6-7) with more still to be announced when the full festival guide comes out in August. Highlights include RUMOURS OF FLEETWOOD MAC, NILS LOFGREN, THE BLUES BAND, ROY WOOD and RICKY ROSS. Each year you tell us our panto is better than the last and this year we know you are going to love SLEEPING BEAUTY (pages 8-9). Our co-producers UK Productions have brought together a great cast including Vicky Entwistle (Coronation St), Amy Thompson (Milkshake) and SarahJane Buckley (Hollyoaks). CHRISTMAS AT THE FLORAL doesn’t just stop with the wonderful panto, we have Wallasey Operatic’s production of Tim Firth’s FLINT ST NATIVITY, Wirral Symphony Orchestra take us on a CHRISTMAS BEAR HUNT, and THE TOMMY COOPER SHOW promises to be a real treat. If you fancy dinner and a show, our popular CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHTS are back (pages 32-33). In January we start the year laughing into our soup and holding onto our bread rolls as THE FAULTY TOWERS DINING EXPERIENCE returns to follow the antics of Basil, Sybil and Manuel. There is so much more we want to highlight but why not have a look at our new brochure and plan some great nights (and days) out here in New Brighton.

See you soon. Best wishes, The Floral Pavilion Team

GALA PERFORMANCE FRI 30th OCT 6:30pm

(see page 31 for details)

Middle Ground Theatre Company Ltd is delighted to present a lavish new production of a classic Miss Marple mystery. The residents of Chipping Cleghorn are astonished to read an advert in the local newspaper that a murder will take place this coming Friday at Little Paddocks, the home of Letitia Blacklock. Unable to resist, the group gather at the house at the appointed time, when the lights go out and a gun is fired. Enter Miss Marple, who must unravel a complex series of relationships and events to solve the mystery of the killer...

Both Judy Cornwell and Diane Fletcher have distinguished careers spanning over 50 years on stage and screen. Judy Cornwell is probably best known for her much loved portrayal of Daisy in the hugely successful TV sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, while Diane Fletcher is forever immortalised as Elizabeth Urquhart in House Of Cards. They are joined by Tom Butcher (PC Steve Loxton in The Bill and Dr Marc Elliott in Doctors), Sarah Thomas, who played Glenda Wilkinson in Last Of The Summer Wine for 24 years, Rachel Bright (Eastenders’ Poppy Meadow), and Dean Smith (Waterloo Road / Last Tango In Halifax).

It was such a success musically, they decided to continue to perform in that format. Since then, they have played together in Cathedrals and Abbeys, Folk Festivals and Theatres and developed an intimate, different experience to the bigger band, which they describe as giving the music ‘breathing space’.
