LATIN LUXE
This series of handmade beaded jewelry is crafted by the magical hands of the indigenous natives in Colombia. Each pattern interprets visions of the indigenous’ dreams that have stood out for them. The design team work together to design patterns that best represent them and then give them the FLOR AMAZONA touch. Through this collection we have perfected the art of blending traditional handcraft and contemporary aesthetics. All pieces are made in Sierra Nevada rainforest and each has their own complex pattern, which takes over 12 hours of loving care to produce. Their final touch is a blessing from our shaman to give fortune and protection all year round.

The true inspiration for this collection was found when Ana journeyed to Colombia’s Pacific with internationally acclaimed photographer and blogger Yvan Rodic, otherwise known as Facehunter. They visited four ethnic areas to discover the real meaning of shamanism and spiritualism in Colombia. Spending time with the indigenous tribes from a remote part of the Sierra Nevada jungle, who are behind some of FLOR AMAZONA’s very own designs, gave Ana Maria the opportunity to understand the true meaning of life, love and the worth of god. Overwhelmed with inspiration, Ana has created a collection of that truly represents the hearts of the indigenous, soul of the jungle and the beauty of exotic animals. “A little shamanic power goes a long way.” - Ana Maria Sarmiento
The Latin Luxe design process starts with a face-to-face meeting with the leader of the Kamcha community, the modern shaman, Hugo Jamioy. The indigenous make beaded patterns that represent visions in their dreams, the design team discuss how they could be represented in the designs in terms of patterns, visions, colors and flowing lines. Hugo and the indigenous also propose old age patterns that depict the nature of the rainforest and the world around them, their shamanic visions and symbols of their gods, to create pieces that bring peace and fortune to its creator and wearer. Ana then gives Hugo and the community of artisans an idea of the range of metal types and colors of the season and talk over the varieties of designs that will be developed for the collection.
What could be better than modeling and developing patterns while listening to the sounds of nature in an outdoor studio best called: the Sierra Nevada rainforest. At this stage, the artisans develop the initial designs that will compose the collection. An envisioned design needs invested time in order to provide FLOR AMAZONA lovers with a curated collection that will transport them to paradise. Hugo and his team of artisans normally take up to 4 weeks to make all the pieces from scratch.
Ana and Hugo decide together the final selection for the collection, where the patterns, colors, measurements and final details are all defined. We like to take time over this stage. Changing a design at a later point in the process isn’t possible. Then, finally, the chant begins. It usually takes around 3 months to hand craft all the pieces, with each piece taking up to 12 hours to create, it’s no wonder! Then they are shipped from Colombia to the world and start to bring fortune and protection to wearers across the globe.
