Fei Tian Dancers

My name is GRACE LIN. I’m a first year tentatively majoring in Business and PoliSci, and I’ve been doing Chinese dance for about 11 years. Though it started as something my mom pushed me into because she thought it would be a fun, cultural thing to do, it has become a passion of mine that I have been able to pursue through Fei Tian Dancers, UC Berkeley’s Chinese dance club. Over the years, I’ve had a chance to perform Dai, Han, Uyghur, Mongolian, and Tibetan dances. The one I will be performing today is a Han dance called Tien Ya Hai Jao (First Love), which is a popular folk song about being able to find your loved ones no matter where they are in the world.

A Multicultural Celebration

JC Alhambra

Hello my name is JC ALHAMBRA and I am a second year intended media studies major and music minor. I play the ukulele and I love to sing. I haven’t been playing it long, so I wouldn’t call myself good. I also haven’t been singing long either, but it’s one of my passions in life. I’ll be singing some short Hawaiian themed songs, so I hope you enjoy.

in college has really opened us up to our culture and now our passion for Bhangra continues to grow at Cal. The name’s JASLEEN SINGH, but I normally go by Jazz. I’m a first year here at Cal and am an Anthropology major. I love dancing, whether its hip hop, jazz, or Bhangra. I’ve been doing Bhangra since I was in elementary school at school performances and for family events, but I’ve never been on a team, so I am very excited to be performing with Cal Bhangra. This is Cal Bhangra’s first year and I hope I will be able to grow along with it over the next four years. Enjoy!

Cal Bhangra

Hi my name is ASHLEY BEDI. I am a first year here at Berkeley and I am currently studying Integrative Biology. I have participated in a number of cultural dances, including Bollywood film dances and Bhangra. Bhangra is one of my favorite styles because it is so high in energy and lots of fun. Hi, my name is JASLEEN BHAMRA. I’m a second year at Berkeley and I’m ecstatic about our bhangra team! I’ve always loved dancing and being a part of a team makes it all the more better! I think it’s safe to say we’re turning into a family, slowly but surely! My name is HARJIT SINGH, and I’m a first year undergraduate, intended Astrophysics, Earth and Planetary Science double major. I’ve been performing Bhangra since 7th grade and it is a very high-energy dance. The music and all of the instruments involved are invigorating, and it really pumps me up. When I dress in traditional Punjabi clothes and perform, I also feel a bit more connected to my culture. I hope the show runs smoothly. Thank you so much for this opportunity! Hi, our names are NAV SINGH and TEJPAL “YANKI” VIRK and we are currently students at Cal and members of Cal Bhangra. We’ve always loved to dance ever since we were 8 years old. The freedom
