Frame the Lesson– What are We Doing Today?
Description: Do you want to gain your students attention? Are you tired of students asking, “What are we doing today”? Lesson Frames set the path by clearly communicating the days objectives. The Lesson Frames sets the path with a “We will” and an “I will” statement for the day. The “We will” tells where we are going and the “ I will” tells if the learner has arrived. Lesson Frames help students make connections between what they should be learning and the task they have been assigned. Participants in this session will learn how to effectively write Lesson Frames for the daily lessons that will increase student understanding. Want to see your student’s comprehension soar? We will focus on giving students a voice and encouraging parental involvement. This session will incorporate character education for elementary and secondary classrooms. We will discuss a variety of factors influencing our students and who they become. This session will provide practical strategies for deliberately developing the character of our students. You will leave this session with ideas and examples to use in any content area.

You will leave this session equipped with the understanding, insight and interventions necessary to drive positive change in your students' hope, engagement, and wellbeing -- and to help students be ready for the future. Attendees will learn why some students make good things happen and bounce back from setbacks? Why do they lead happier, healthier, more productive lives? It’s because they have hope—not because of luck, intelligence, popularity or money. So, what exactly is hope and how can we measure it and how can all students get it, too? Also, this session gives examples on how teachers can spread hope throughout the school. Finally, this session will examine well-being indicators that make students more academically successful?

While this variety can facilitate an exciting and dynamic teaching experience, it can also present unexpected challenges for any teacher. In this session, ten student archetypes are presented to help teachers better understand and reach each member of their classrooms. Although students are unique and never fit neatly into one type, teachers are shown how to best work with students who exhibit certain kinds of behaviors. CHAMPS Strategies at the Elementary Level –(Behavior)

Participants will learn current teen trends in alcohol and drug use, ways youth are hiding alcohol and drugs use, and information that can help adults deal with examples of drug paraphernalia and explores such trends as underage binge drinking, alcoholic energy drinks, “anti-energy” drinks, bath salts, synthetic marijuana, salvia, and prescription drug use. The subject matter presented in this session is intended for an adult audience only. In this highly practical training, schools will receive tools on how to recognize and respond to bullying and harassment, as well as distinguish “bullying” from “disagreements”. Course participants will learn how bullying, cyber bullying, and other forms of harassment impact students on your campus. Participants will learn strategies for supporting victims of harassment, bystanders, and their parents. Legal and educational responsibilities will be reviewed in addition to what schools can do to properly identify, investigate, and report incidents of bullying and harassment. Participants will also discuss ways educators can confront technology-based aggression and ensure the safe and responsible use of computers and the internet.
