The object of my Master thesis is to realize an innovative school, starting from an existing school in Turin. Each space (from the hall to the lab) is thought by integrating architectural project and lighting design. The classroom is the first environment to be show. The class is a flexible space. Lighting system is composed by recessed luminaires in a suspended ceiling. There is the possibility to choose between three solution of lighting (called Scenarios) already configured in the system.

Multiarea is thought as a black box, an experimental space for art performances. The space is made flexible and easily adaptable to all the requirements by the use of mobile platforms and spotlights.

The hall of the Ceramic Museum is situated on the ground floor of Teatrino del Bonaiuto, Sicilian historical building. Architectural features, like the stone arc across the hall, are highlighted using indirect light. This arc is used to expose ceramic works. The idea is to suggest immediately the content of the museum to the visitor. Next to the counter, a pillar is used as support to expose others ceramic pieces. Elements exposed are accentuated by the use of the light. This academic project is realized by a three members group. I took care of the design, the rendering and the lighting verifications.

The holy room is one of the thematic rooms of the Ceramic museum of Caltagirone. In this case, the concept is to create an evocative atmosphere using the illumination. The main piece of the exposition is a Ceramic carpet. This element is situated in the middle, under suspension lights and emphasized using strip led. A statue of the Virgin is illuminated by a punctual light. Finally, other elements are placed along the walls and illuminated by recessed luminaires. The final effect is a dark room in which principal elements are visible with light.

The object of this architectural and lighting project is to realize a family house, using a pop style. The intervention relates to an existing appartment in Turin. The aim is to satisfy all the requests of the family, from the number of rooms to the design.

“Witness to the time” is the name of the light installation designed for the contest “Polito in Light”, with the aim of making a light istallation in the courtyard of Valentino’s castle, in Turin. Time flowing is the concept thought for the realization. I thought to use plexiglass tubes to compose a sandglass. The effect of sand that gradually flowing is represented by LEDs inside the tubes: light switch on bit by bit from top to bottom. In the sandglass base there are twelve spots, that project two beams at a time, representing the hands of a watch. Four lighting spheres disposed on the floor are the watch of these lighting beams.

The sunrise
During the workshop “Luci in Riviera”, I worked to realize a lighting installation in a dark garden in Dolo, near Venice. My workshop head, Marco Palandella followed me and my team during the concept and the realization. I thought to create a path, marked by a cold light, that lays down the moments of a day, like the sunrise, the sunset and the night. Each moment is recreated through light. Some trees in the path are illuminated with lights with different colours and intensities. For the night scenario, it’s been used reflecting material to simulate the stars.
