We’ve all seen those amazing fitness models with chiseled features and perfect bodies. From sportsmen to movie stars and competitors they exude the perfect form, as if they won the genetic lottery by having an effortless muscular physique. But the journey that led to having an amazing figure is far more inspiring than the obvious results. Meet Polina Petrusevich, an award winning fitness model, and you’ll be convinced she simply got lucky when nature granted her a perfect body. But the truth behind the success of this model turned entrepreneur will shock you!

Florida Russian Lifestyle Magazine sat down with Polina at her office in Tampa’s PowerHouse Gym-channelside to get the story of her amazing transformation from an overweight waitress to fitness model, business owner and weight loss, wellness & fitness consultant. Polina was born in Novosibirsk, Russia where she attended university to become a philologist. At age 19 she travelled to the US to improve her English skills and decided to stay and build her life here. It wasn’t easy, she explains, “I was working up to 6 different part time jobs, all of them were
in hospitality and food service.” Which is where her most significant weight gain began. Polina had always struggled with having a few extra pounds, but living on a diet of restaurant food with no exercise quickly took its toll. She put on pound after pound within her first 3 months and then steadily gained as time went on. She attempted to diet, reducing her calories, running on treadmills and each time failed to achieve results. “I resolved that I was simply going to be someone who would always be fat.”, she said. But then something happened that changed her determination, and set her on a course to become a top fitness model and successful business owner of a private studio. “My boyfriend at the time told me I was probably the best woman he had ever dated but my butt was just too big and then he broke up with me.”, she said.
The result could have been depression, or despair but Polina decided to do something about her body and her intentions were extreme. “I announced to my friends that I was going to be a fitness model and compete.” She shares as her voice takes on a determined tone. “I would be in the gym telling people that and they literally would ask me, ‘Have you seen yourself in a mirror?’” But Polina wasn’t interested in validation from other people, she set this goal to prove to herself that she could literally transform her body into that of an award winning fitness model, and no one could convince her otherwise. Over the next year she lost most of her body fat, as she learned more about nutrition and working out. But she admits, she made many mistakes during that time which kept her from getting faster results. She hired a personal trainer who became her business partner; later the

two bought a private fitness studio called Bodyshapers Fitness. At that time Polina began investing 100% of her time into the fitness business, but she still wanted to prove to herself that she could indeed become a fitness model. She worked with a coach that specialized in bikini competitions, and also attended several classes on nutrition, weight loss, cardio, low glycemic impact eating and more. Then she went further by obtaining certifications as a Les Mills trainer, TRX Suspension Training and Nutriceutical Consultant.

At her first competition she walked on stage with the body she had dreamed of, “I had accomplished something an average girl would think is impossible.”, she says as she shared her impressive list of competitions and placements. With a successful business and award winning results, Polina
decided she wanted to do more than compete with other models, “I felt my focus should be on my clients, and a lot of the fitness world was aimed at ego and being featured in magazines.” She explained as she reached for a questionnaire on nutrition. “This is what I wanted to do, to help my clients become healthier from the inside while strengthening the outside. I had already won my mental trophy and achieved my goal to compete; now I wanted to focus on business.”, she said. The focus on business paid off quickly, within two years her expertise in high absorbency supplements, nutrition and training caught the attention of elite clients including WWE wrestlers, professional hockey, baseball, football and soccer players. “While personal training is a service provided at my private fitness studio, my passion is in educating my clients. Even the professionals don’t have all the answers, they might have trouble sleeping, need help with muscle management or other issues, and it all comes down to what we put in our bodies.” She explains, “Anyone can go to the gym and workout, but so many people are unaware that their nutrition is totally
wrong or even defeating them in reaching their goals.” Polina’s methods include GeneSNP, a DNA testing kit that reveals 43 unique genetic traits of an individual’s makeup, allowing her to customize their nutrition and supplementation programs for maximum effectiveness. She then spends an intense hour with the client interviewing them about their eating and living habits to reveal causal items that contribute to their condition. All of this occurs before a single minute of physical exercise is prescribed. Also, as a certified nutraceutical consultant Polina works with the highest absorbency powder form supplements and incorporates them into licensed healthcare practitioners’ offices. Polina has established relationships with a number of successful practices from plastic surgery centers to physical rehabs facilities. She instructs physicians on the proper application of the pharmaceutical grade supplements and helps them to incorporate those supplements into their patient’s regimen. Polina recently eastablished a web site, PolinaFit.com, featuring information on supplements, fitness and healthy cooking. Наши русские красавицы тоже приняли участие в этом грандиозном событии, но только в качестве моделей. Одну из них, Татьяну Голещихину, уже успевшую поработать на подиумах Тампы и Майами, я с удовольствием сфотографировала на показе Coctails & Couture Runaway Show. Также в течение недели зрители могли насладиться показом детской моды, свадебной моды и историей костюма, однако самым удавшимся можно назвать последний, завершающий показ мод, на котором свои линии одежды представили такие знаменитости как Ронда Шир (Rhonda Shear) совместно с актером Като Каэлином (Kato Kaelin) и Кристал Хефнер (Crystal Hefner), местные дизайнеры Audrey “Pat” McGhee и Dolly Donshey. Специальным гостем программы cтала известный дизайнер из Лос-Анджелеса Кимберли Xендрикс (Kimberly Hedrix Khendrix). Для своей одежды Кимберли предпочитает натуральный материал, и вся тематика ее линии посвящена природе. Впервые о Кимберли заговорили после того, как она приняла участие в качестве дизайнера в коллекции Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2008. Alla’s Yummy Food Kotlets (Meatballs) with Creamy Mash Potatoes This is a traditional Latvian/Russian Dish for meat lovers. There are so many different ways to make Kotlets. It just depends on how you prefer them. I will show you my way of making Yummy Kotlets with Mash Potatoes. This recipe serves 4 people and makes about 12 Kotlets. Girls I can guarantee your boyfriends/lovers/partners will LOVE this dish! Its soo meaty! Meatball Ingredients:
• 500 gr of minced beef (you can also use 250gr of beef and 250gr of pork) • 1 large onion • 3-4 cloves of garlic • Salt & Pepper • 1 Tbsp of sour cream ( optional) • 1 egg
Step 7 : Add a bit of oil or butter into your pan, set on medium heat
Directions:
Step 9 : Add a bit of water into frying Kotlets and cover the lid, this will make Kotlets more juicy. ( Again this is optional)
Step 1 : Peel and chop onion with garlic Step 2 : Cut minced meat into stripes

Step 3 : Fry the onion with garlic for about 3-5 min, add a pinch of salt and pepper Step 4 : Add minced meat into the bowl. Then add 1 egg, 1 table spoon of sour cream, salt & pepper, fried onions and garlic. Step 5 : Mix it all really well on a bowl Step 6 : Create round shapes out of the mixture and place them on a chopping board or plate
Step 8 : Fry as many Kotlets as you can fit in a pan for about 2-5 min, then turn them around and fry again for another 2-5 min.
Step 10 : Check one Kotlet to make sure meat has cooked properly, especially if you are using pork ( fry it longer) and serve.
Creamy mash potatoes: • • • •
50 gr of butter 6 medium potatoes 150 ml of milk Salt & Pepper
Directions: Step 1 : Boil your potatoes ( cut them into smaller pieces to boil faster) Step 2 : Pour away the water and mash the potatoes
Step 3 : Add butter, salt and pepper, mix that in Step 4 : Slowly add milk ( make sure milk is either room temperature or warm) and mix. Step 5 : Serve on a plate with a tiny bit of butter on top You can see from my picture how I decorated my plate, you can decorate the mash with potatoes in many different ways. Always add some garnish from fresh vegetables to make it more colorful and yummy. I hope you enjoy this dish! It is really simple to make and tastes really good. It could be a quick delicious dinner. Russian Classes For Teenagers And Adults Russian I
The course is designed to teach students to communicate in everyday situations using basic Russian grammar and vocabulary. You will learn how to introduce yourself, ask directions, order food at a restaurant, make phone calls, etc. Students will learn the Russian alphabet, how to read and write in Russian as well as discover many interesting facts about the Russian culture, traditions, beliefs and life style.

Rescued from the Flames Paintings by Leading Soviet-era Artists

For the first time in the United States, an exhibit of 20 paintings by Soviet-era master artists of the Socialist Realist school will be exhibited at Gallery on Fifth, Mercato, in Naples, Fla., from December 11, 2013 through January 12, 2014. An opening reception will be held at the Gallery on December 11, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. The paintings, prominent works from the Collection of Jurii Maniichuk and Rose Brady, have never been seen by the public since they were exhibited in the Soviet Union before its collapse in 1991. The collection includes portraits, still lifes, landscapes, World War II-era images, and
scenes of daily life created by artists living and working in Soviet Ukraine from the 1950s until the mid-1980s. Ukrainian-American collector Jurii Maniichuk acquired the paintings from leading artistic institutions, artists, or their heirs while he lived and worked in Kiev in the mid-1990s. At that time of uncertainty in newlyindependent Ukraine, Socialist
Realism was discredited and artists were so short of resources they painted new works over old canvases. Maniichuk assembled the museum-quality collection of 140 paintings for the enjoyment and education of future generations. Since his death in 2009, the collection is owned and administered by his wife, American journalist Rose Brady.

BACKGROUND ON RESCUED FROM THE FLAMES Q. Why ‘Rescued from the Flames?’

A. Paintings in the Collection of Jurii Maniichuk and Rose Brady were in danger of being destroyed when Maniichuk collected them in newlyindependent Ukraine in the mid-1990s. These works, spanning the 1950s-mid-1980s, were created by Soviet artists who were supported by the state. The painters followed tenets of Socialist Realism, the art genre endorsed by the Communist Party, which required artists to show realistic images that advanced the party’s revolutionary ideals. After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, this art style was discredited as mere propaganda.
Economicallystrapped artists were desperate for supplies and canvases and began painting over many old works. Maniichuk, a Ukrainian-American legal specialist, was working in Kiev in the mid-1990s. With the advice of art experts, he decided to purchase 140 socialist realist paintings from leading Soviet artists in Ukraine to preserve them for the enjoyment of future generations. Q. Are these paintings originals?
A. Yes. In most cases, Maniichuk purchased the paintings directly from the artists or their heirs. Maniichuk endeavored to assemble a museumquality collection and chose works created by painters who received their education from the top art academies of Soviet Ukraine. The majority of paintings are signed. Because these works were not appreciated in the late 1990s, Maniichuk was able to gain permission to export them from Ukraine and brought them legally to the U.S. Art from the Soviet era, particularly from Semen Guyetsky the 1950s and Portrait of V. Ogopchenko 1950 earlier, is now much Oil on Canvas

more difficult to export from former Soviet states. Q. Where has the collection been exhibited before? A. The paintings in this exhibition have never been seen by the public in the U.S. About 50 other paintings from the collection were exhibited in 2012 at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York and are on loan through 2018. One painting is on loan to the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Russian-American Community Festival 2013 On August 31, 2013 the Russian-American Community Center of Florida hosted a community fair. The event, which was popular among Russian speakers in Central Florida, featured a variety of local Russian speaking businesses, law firms, charities and church groups. Children were treated with balloon sculptures and chalk art while adults interacted with various exhibits and attendees. The backdrop for the event was provided by Ararat Euro Bistro a senior sponsor and long time supporter of the Russian speaking community. The event was the first of it’s kind, with another planned for early spring in 2014. Contact the Russian-American Community Center for details.

Петитция о назначении господина Джеффери Грэй почетным консулом России в штате Флорида, США Совет директоров Русско-Американского общественного центра Флориды при поддержке многочисленных русскоязычных бизнесов и организаций штата Флориды выступил с инициативой обратиться в Посольство России в США и в Министерство иностранных дел России с петицией о создании во Флориде почетного (нештатного) консульства Российской Федерации во главе с известным в русской общине бизнесменом, общественным деятелем и филанторопом господином Джеффери Грэй. Этот проект требует серьезных людских и финансовых ресурсов. Для работы над ним и рассмотрения петиции требуется собрать как как можно больше подписей. Мы просим Вас поддержать эту инициативу и подписать петицию.
4. Оказание, в случае необходимости, консультативных услуг и всемерной помощи российским гражданам и жителям Флориды по вопросам, связанным с Россией. 5. Содействие расширению деловых и экономических отношений между Россией и штатом Флорида, а также обменов в области культуры, искусства, здравоохранения и туризма. Работа почетного консула Почетное консульство работает на общественных началах. Почетный консул не получает зарплату от Российского государства. Более того, обязан за собственный счет содержать почетное консульство, открытие которого он же и финансирует. Вместе с тем, почетный консул подчиняется Посольству России в США и представляет интересы Российской державы. Почетным консулом, может быть назначен как гражданин России, так и гражданин США. Согласование с государственными органами США – обязательное условие при назначении на эту должность. Следует помнить, что статус почетного консула это не только престижный титул, но в первую очередь большая общественная нагрузка и общественная работа. Этот человек очень хорошо известен в русской общине центральной Флориды, имеет солидный вес в обществе и хорошую репутацию. А главное то, что он, американский гражданин, рожденный в США, действительно любит Россию, изучает руский язык и культуру. Джеф лично внес и продолжает вносить заметный вклад в укрепление положения русской культуры в США, в ознакомление граждан США с российским культурным наследием, в организацию работы с соотечественниками. В качестве общественной нагрузки, работая бесплатно, с сентября 2004 года по настоящее время Джеф Грэй является директором Общества русской культуры города Орландо. С мая 2010 года по настоящее время он также является основателем
и президентом Русско-Американского общественного центра штата Флориды. Это его заслуга в том, что в августе 2010 в г. Орландо открылась первая воскресная школа русского языка и культуры для детей. Это при его непосредственном участии и руководстве в январе 2011 года в г. Орландо в помещении РусскоАмериканского общественного центра была создана и постоянно пополняется (единственная до сих пор во Флориде) общественная библиотека книг на русском языке, которая в настоящее время насчитывает более 2000 книг.

Его деятельность на благо русско-язычной общины Флориды включает в себя участие в различных благотворительных акциях, интервью с радиостанциями “CBS Radio”, “Radio Disney” и “Голос России”, участие в 4-ом форуме Российских соотечественников в августе 2012 года и организацию выездного участка для голосования Российских граждан, проживающих в штате Флорида, в период проведения выборов Президента Российской Федерации 4 марта 2012 года. В настоящее время Джеф Грэй вместе с командой юристов и активистов Русско-Американского общественного центра Флориды работают над созданием и открытием в г. Орландо Русской чартерной школы. Как бизнесмен, в 2007 году Джеф явился одним из учредителей и создателей Российско-американского туристического и переводческого агенства “American Experience”, с апреля 2010 года он является издателем популярного русскоязычного интернетжурнала «Русские во Флориде». И всё это при том, что Джеф Грэй — высокий профессионал в области IT технологий и занимант должность вице-президента по информационным технологиям в огромной корпорации «Kissimmee Utility Authority” Достоинства и активную деятельность этого человека можно перечислять долго. Джеф Грэй занимает видное общественное положение в штате Флорида, обладает необходимыми личными качествами и действительно имеет реальную возможность должным образом выполнять функции почетного консула Российской федерации в штате Флорида. Давайте все вместе поддержим этот проект! Давайте делать всё, чтобы дружба между Россией и Америкой крепла, а экономические, культурные и человеческие связи только углублялись!
