Safety Guidelines • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) requires all who are on or who operate a personal watercraft to wear a Type I, II, III or V Personal Flotation Device. Inflatable PFDs are prohibited. • All aboard should carry a whistle or other soundproducing device. • Always carry a flashlight that shines white for added safety. • It is recommended to depart on a rising tide to avoid being grounded as low tide approaches. • Sunscreen, bug spray (fish friendly) and water shoes are all recommended for your comfort as well as safety. • The Redfish Bayou trail can be challenging during low tides or strong incoming tides. This optional trail is not recommended for the beginner kayaker. Paddling boards are not recommended for this area due to oyster bars. • To help plan your paddling adventure use an online tide predictor and weather forecasts such as the National Weather Service. • Bring all trash back to shore for disposal. Leave nothing but your wake! Check with FWC for the most up-to-date information regarding navigational and safety rules and requirements: http://myfwc.com/boating/safety-education/equipment/ vessels-under-16-feet/

Paddle Through A Coastal Adventure

E xplore the Adventure Coast’s true nature on the Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail. From your kayak, canoe or paddleboard, immerse yourself in this vibrant coastal ecosystem where you’ll discover a variety of wildlife that call these unique wetlands home. Swaying cordgrass, cabbage palms and mangroves highlight serene scenery. This tidal estuary, where fresh water from springs and rivers flows into the Gulf of Mexico, provides shelter to many species. Coastlines and shallows are places to see oyster bars and shore birds such as bald eagles, wood storks, herons and spotted sandpipers. Other wildlife known to make appearances include manatees, dolphins and otters. Bayport Park and Linda Pedersen Park offer both kayak and canoe ramps, ample parking, restrooms, picnic tables and amenities. At 1.7 miles one-way, your trip can extend to a full 4.8 miles on the water by exploring the Redfish Bayou Trail and making it a round-trip journey. Whether viewing sunrise over the saltmarsh or relaxing for a picnic lunch along the way, your paddling adventure on Florida’s Adventure Coast awaits.
