CHAMPION YOUTH LIVESTOCK PROGRAM

• Running for 28 years, focusing on youth involvement in agriculture.

• Teaches leadership, responsibility, & hands-on skills through animal projects.

2024 HIGHLIGHTS

• 1,350 youth from 45 counties participated.

• 87% qualified for monetary premiums.

• Over 25,000 youth exhibitors impacted since 1998.

2025 GOALS

• Increased Participation: Exceed 2024’s record numbers.

• Expand Impact: Further extend statewide reach.

CHAMPION YOUTH PROGRAM

• Focus: Recognizes and rewards Youth Exhibitors for their educational achievements.

• Activities Include: Recordkeeping. Hands-on skillathons. Creating educational posters and videos. Additional educational tasks and events.

CHAMPION ANIMAL PROGRAM

• Focus: Recognizes and rewards youth for raising and exhibiting champion animals.

• Emphasis: Further importance of champion animal genetics, husbandry and breeding. Upholding the tradition of livestock competitions at fairs nationwide.

EVENTS

Steer, Swine, Beef, Dairy, Sheep, Goat, Rabbit, & Poultry competitions.

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Top four senior exhibitors in each category compete in a round robin on all eight species. Final competition determines the overall Champion of Champions.

Youth Dog & Youth Llama/ Alpaca competions

NOTE: Domestic animal winners do not proceed to the final Champion of Champions contest due to the difference in skills for production vs. domestic animal projects.

CHAMPION YOUTH AWARDS

Top Junior and Intermediate Winners and the top 4 Seniors are recognized for each species.

TOP 6 WINNERS

Announced as Champion Youth Ambassadors.

ROLE

Serve as official representatives of the Fair’s livestock programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote the program’s benefits and opportunities statewide.

Engage with potential exhibitors, sponsors, and the general public.

All sponsors will be recognized in the TECO Arena throughout the 2025 Florida State Fair.
