The natural pathways guide runners and walkers over bridges and through a breathtaking landscape. If you’re looking for bigger thrills bust out a kayak and paddle down the gentle waters of the Neuse.

In addition to our college athletics, professional sports teams are scattered throughout the city. The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional hockey team who have won a Stanley Cup! We are home to the Durham Bulls, a triple-A minor league baseball team as well as The Carolina Mudcats, another minor league baseball team. And if that wasn’t enough, our area is home to some of the most beautiful golf courses in the United States, one of our favorites is the Neuse Golf Club!

PROFESSIONAL SPORTS Carolina Hurricanes The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Hurricanes play their home games at the 18,680-seat PNC Arena. The franchise was formed in 1971 as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association (WHA), and joined the NHL in 1979 as part of the NHL–WHA merger, renaming themselves the Hartford Whalers. The team relocated to North Carolina in 1997 and won its first Stanley Cup during the 2005–06 season, beating the Edmonton Oilers, four games to three. Ron Francis, who captained the team in both Hartford and Carolina and spent 15 years with the franchise overall as a player before joining its staff in 2006, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007. He is the third Hall of Famer to have earned his credentials primarily with the Whalers/ Hurricanes franchise. 20
Carolina Mudcats The Carolina Mudcats are a Minor League Baseball team based in Zebulon, North Carolina. They are members of the Carolina League and are the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The franchise originated in 1978 as the Kinston Eagles of Kinston, North Carolina. In 2012 they relocated to Zebulon amid a series of purchases and moves, and took up the name of the previous Mudcats team.
Durham Bulls The Durham Bulls are a Triple-A minor league baseball team that currently plays in the International League. The Bulls play their home games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park located in the downtown area of Durham, North Carolina. Durham Bulls Athletic Park is often called the “DBAP” or “D-Bap”. The Bulls are the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Bulls became internationally famous following the release of the 1988 movie Bull Durham starring Kevin Costner, Tim Robbins, and Susan Sarandon.
COLLEGE ATHLETICS Duke University The Duke Blue Devils are the athletic teams that represent Duke University. Its 26 varsity teams compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The name comes from the French “les Diables Bleus” or “the Blue Devils,” which was the nickname given during World War I to the Chasseurs Alpins, the French Alpine light infantry battalion. Duke University’s men’s basketball team is the fourth-winningest college basketball program of all-time.
North Carolina State University The NC State Wolfpack football team represents North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack competes in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. As a founding member of the ACC, the Wolfpack has won seven conference championships and participated in 31 bowl games, of which the team has won 17, including eight of their last eleven.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The North Carolina Tar Heels are the athletic teams representing the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The name Tar Heel is a nickname used to refer to individuals from the state of North Carolina, the Tar Heel State. The campus at Chapel Hill is referred to as the University of North Carolina for the purposes of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was chartered in 1789, and in 1795 it became the first state-supported university in the United States. Since the school fostered the oldest collegiate team in the Carolinas, the school took on the nickname “Carolina,” especially in athletics. The Tar Heels are also referred to as North Carolina, UNC, or The Heels. Carolina has won 43 NCAA Division I team national championships in seven different sports, tied for eighth all-time, and 52 individual national championships.

Our goal is for the families at Flowers Plantation to all feel a sense of community with activities designed to enhance team-building, family bonding and local philanthropy. Each season brings on new and exciting events for our families to participate in and build lifelong memories.
Swim Team Flowers Plantation Piranhas swim team participates in the Southern Metro Swim League and swims against other local teams. Children (ages 5-18) will improve their swimming skills while experiencing the fun and excitement of an amazing sport which combines individual achievement and competition within a team atmosphere. The Piranha Swim Team is a force to be reckoned with! This elite group of athletes train throughout the week to build a strong team fueled by friendship and the desire to be the best that they can.
Summer Sports During the summer we know how much energy the young ones can have, at Flowers Plantation we come prepared with scheduled sports camps throughout the summer. Let your kids learn a new skill while making new friends with other kids in the neighborhood.
Flag Football Learn the game of football without the rough hits! Boys and girls are welcome to participate in the camp where they will learn and practice basic skills. When game time comes around they’ll be sure to have a ball! We also have opportunities for parents to become volunteer coaches. Cheerleading Cheer and tumble your way to victory, there’s no better way to pump up the team or the crowd! If your child is interested in leaning team choreography and tumbling then this is the camp for you. No stunts will be performed. Games are on Saturdays.

Coastal Credit Union Music Park Walnut Creek Amphitheater is a beautiful outdoor music venue in Raleigh, North Carolina and plays host to some of the biggest bands and artists in the world.
