‘21 Objects’ at Flow Gallery 26 November 2020 - 14th January 2021 Yvonna Demczynska Well, it’s lovely to have you here, Ane and, we’ve been planning this exhibition ’21 Objects’ for two years. It’s lovely that we have actually got it here at the gallery. Can you tell me if your planning and making during the lock-down has affected the way you work and this exhibition? Ane Christensen It definitely has affected me and, I’m the maker. But I found it incredibly useful. I have been thinking about this in retrospect. At one point I thought it would be cancelled but, that was beside the point - it was still a deadline towards the end of the year and I had to just keep making. I think for a lot of makers there was nothing to focus on. Everything was closed, cancelled and the workshops were shut. I was in my garden workshop just, creating work for flow. It gave me an incredible sense of calm and purpose all through the summer. So thank you. Y So, that’s one of the very few positives during the pandemic. You started your studies in jewellery first of all. I was wondering if you made any jewellery at all before your 3d objects? Or if you have made any functional jewellery at all? Because to me, these are pure sculpture. A I trained as a jeweller and, for a long time, that was what I was going to be. But, everyone told me my jewellery was enormous. I thought that was nonsense as these were perfectly normal sizes for jewellery but, I think that was because I am physically quite big. Then after I finished my studies, I got an apprenticeship with two Silversmiths - proper Silversmiths. I remember the first day when they gave me a Silversmiths file to hold in my hand and everything is scaled up in Silversmithing.
