Ash & Plumb
An Artist Duo Exhibition
31st March - 28th April 2023
Taking reference from ancient archetypes, Ash & Plumb play with historically ceremonial forms – interpreting them into their own visual language, whilst celebrating the natural imperfections of the material with which they work.
Fascinated by the meeting point between opposing qualities, their work is not only a reflection of who they are as individuals but also what they represent as a creative and romantic partnership. The juxtaposition between an aggressive making process that becomes increasingly fine and delicate, resulting in an elegant and curvaceous form. Or the precise control required when hollowing an unseasoned vessel, as opposed to the natural warp that occurs during the drying process.
“ This collection is a playful exploration of form and finish and a celebration of the Oak tree from which these vessels were hewn, featuring a recently developed softer natural finish alongside our established darker offerings.

“ The work is a celebration of the imperfect, as much a collaborative process with each other as well as the material itself. We are drawn to weathered, beaten and aged finishes, specialising in the alchemy of patina and unique surface. ”
