Aka Morchiladze is a penname of Georgi Akhvlediani, (born in 1966 in Tbilisi,Georgia) arguably the most outstanding, recognized and talented contemporary Georgian author of literary fiction. After graduating from Tbilisi 57 secondary school, he studied Georgian History at Tbilisi State University. His first novel “Journey To Karabakh”, written in 1992 lead to his success. . The novel represents a period when Georgia was a chaotic country, struggling with its newly acquired independence. It was sold and translated in eight languages and later adopted as a feature movie followed by two sequels. The novel written in 1966 “Dogs of Paliashvili Street” was another successful work that three years after its publication was adapted to play and staged at Akhmeteli Thaeter. The play turned into the most popular theatrical performances in history of Georgian theater. During the 1990s Morchiladze became a prominent writer of contemporary Georgian fiction. After a long period of time he still remains the most beloved author in his homeland. Since 1998 Sulakauri Publishing became an exclusive publisher of Morchiladze’s works and published his more than 25 books in various editions. Apart from being a literary fiction writer, Morchiladze worked as a sports journalist in a sports daily newspaper Sarbieli where he proved himself as a professional. Later his columns were collected ad published as a book. Nowadays author began his blog at sports magazine Offside. In 2005-2006 Morchiladze worked as a producer and a presenter at Unknown Georgia, one of the most interesting TV documentary about Georgian history and literature. Currently, he lives and works in London, UK.

Lasha Bugadze was born in 1977 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1998 his first book “The Box” was published by Sulakauri Publishing and since then Sulakauri became the exclusive publisher of Bugadze’s works. The scandalous period for Lasha was in 2002 when his short story “The First Russian” published in periodic press and text became the subject of debate in Parliament to ban the short story and activate the censorship in the independent Georgia. The big wave of threat came from the church and the society. Religious leaders called him in the residence of Georgian Patriarch and told him that he’would be excommunicated from the Georgian Orthodox churh and rejected by a number of people, if he did not apologize publically for his work. That incident greatly defines the themes of Bugadze’s works. Despite writing about censorship and flaws of Georgian mentality, Bugadze maintains humor within the tragedy. Censorship was also the main theme of his radio program “Dialogue on Censorship”. In 2015 the recorded interviews of that program were adapted into a book and published by Sulakauri Publishing. Bugadze became the laureate of the major literary award in Georgia – SABA Awards four times from his twelve nominations in various years. Aside from novels and short stories, his plays had a huge success in Europe. In 2007 play “When they’re attacking Taxi Drivers” won the BBC Radio-play contest regional prize and in 2011 play “The Navigator” was announced as the best radio-play of the year and won the first award. In 2013 “The President Has Come to See You” - another play by Lasha was staged and performed in Royal-Court Theater in London, UK. The book is concerned with the stages of censorship development. Years ago in countries governed under the totalitarian regime, the freedom of expression was suppressed and artists had to struggle with the system that paradoxically inspired them to create art. Today in most of the countries, society operates as a main censor. It dictates whether the work is valid and acceptable. The book clearly demonstrates different branches of censorship and who is the main force behind the process: Government, religion, society or one’s own ego.

Sandro’s problems start when Anna appears in his life. She is somewhat similar to him, an aggressive and ambivalent character; his double, in a sense. In her words, in the beginning she treats their affair light-heartedly, with time she finds herself deeply involved in the neurotic routine of their relationship. When Sandro’s wife doubts his fidelity, she hacks her husband’s private email and discovers her archenemy Anna and starts a correspondence with her in Sandro’s name.

დათო ტურაშვილი Dato Turashvili was born on 10th of May, 1966 in ჯინსების თაობა Tbilisi, Georgia. After graduating from Tbilisi 57 secondary school, he studied literature, film history of art at universities of Tbilisi, London and Madrid. He also studied film dramaturgy at Erlom Akhvlediani Screenplay Workshop. In his student years Turashvili was the main insurgent and the leader of the non-conformist student group which later played a huge role in Georgian history, when the country became independent. In those years Dato was one of the central figures in Georgia’s Youth Movement. In his book “Once Upon a Time” Dato beautifully describes the epoch, when Georgia faced a responsibility to maintain independence and freedom. His most popular novel “Flight from the USSR” (a.k.a. The Jeans Generation) remains the most selling title in Georgia. “Flight from the USSR” was adapted as a play and staged in Free Theatre of Georgia. The theatrical play also has become the most popular and bestselling performances of 21st century in Georgia. The story is based on one of the most tragic events of the 1980s in which seven young people hijacked an airplane in an attempt to escape the Soviet Union. But they failed and all of them were sentenced to death by Soviet Government. Nowadays Turashvili is very beloved writer in Georgia. He has extreme popularity and huge army of fans. In the circus begins the final tragedy of the twins when Lina falls in love with the illusionist Sasha, who is no more than a liar to Diana. They face more and more bitterness and chaos as two people, living in one body, trying to salvage a sense of compassion for each other. This ultimate repression of human feelings, which are deemed by the twins as universally unacceptable, leads them to the most fatal of tragedies – they commit suicide.

Gogi Gvakharia, famous Georgian art-critic, journalist, blogger, TV and radio-host, was born in 1957, Tbilisi. He graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts in 1979. From 1986 he teaches History and Theory of Cinematography. In 1992-93 Gvakharia was working on scientific research in Paris, France and his dissertation topic was Contemporary art and Electronic Media. The program analyses the expressions of Soviet stereotypes in Georgian Culture. Every new essay, article or even a blogpost by Gvakharia is most read and commented on by thousands of Georgians. His works are highly demanded in Georgia and that was also one of the reasons why his Documentary Fiction Teary Eyeglasses became the Bestseller of the Year in Georgia. Gogi Gvakharia was one of the major participants of USAID program “Human Rights and Georgian Culture”. Tsotne Tskhvediani was born on august 18, 1993 in Kutaisi, Georgia. After graduating from Kutaisi number 12 public school he entered Tbilisi State University in 2011, Faculty of Humanities, department of History. Main subject of his researches is the anarchist movements of the 20th century Caucasus region. In 2012 Tsotne himself joined the eco-anarchist movement and took part in several strikes which were the expression of solidarity for the people who live and work in Georgia’s industrial towns. He very often visited these places and had personally interviewed the local population . This experience was reflected in his short stories as well. The subject of Tsotne’s works are different: birdwatching and psychedelic music, politics and philosophy, and sometimes mythology too. First short story “Underground” which was published in 2013 in magazine Literary Palette (Palitra) describes lives and hopes of miners working in Tkibuli, a small town in west Georgia. “The Town and the Saints” which is the first collection of his short stories was published in 2014 by Bakur Sulakauri Publishing and it is a compilation of the stories that narrate about lives and problems of the people living in the abandoned and forgotten areas. Very often the towns themselves are the characters of the stories. The psych-geographical view of the reality is one of the main reasons why Tskhvediani’s stories are very touching and interesting. Zurab Lezhava is an exceptional Georgian writer. His prose is absolutely naïve and easily distinguishable from other writers’ works. Famous Georgian writer, Zaza Burchuladze called him Firosmani in Prose and foreign publishers compared his literature to the filmography of Emir Kusturica. Rezo Cheishvili, famous Georgian writer was born in 1933 in Kutaisi, Georgia. In 1958 he graduated from Tbilisi State University, the department of Georgian Philology. During his student years he made his debut in Georgian periodic press “Tsiskari” with a collection of short stories. Being educated in philology helped him to improve his own writing skills and with time Cheishvili became a writer with the style no one has in Georgian literature. Critics often say that no one can even emulate the style of Rezo Cheishvili. In Years 1961-87 Cheishvili was the Chief Editor of screenwriters in Movie-Studio “Georgian Cinema”. His own screenplays were often adapted to movies. Working in that field was the major experience of the author whose works became very visual. In 1962, at the age of 27 he published his first book, short story collection “Bzianeti” (fictional name of a land). Novels like Dali, , Red briar flower, The Dinosaurs are Walking in the City, Robbers, My Friend Nodar, Oh! My Vineyard!,led to his extreme popularity but his magnum opus Blue Mountains still remains one of the greatest novels in Georgian literature. From 1987 to 1992 Cheishvili was the Director of Rustaveli association, which was the main cultural association in Georgia. After leaving the association he became the vice-president of Writer’s Union in 1992. In 2000 he became the President of this Union. Currently, he lives in Kutaisi, Georgia and works in field of literature.
