Agoria
Toro y Moi
Little Dragon
THURSDAY 16 12:00 Ragul (Discontinu Records/ ES) DJ This young artist from Barcelona is influenced by the more offbeat side of science fiction imagery and the golden age of bedroom electronica. Music box melodies converted into landscapes of sweet and intimate bleeps, as highlighted on compilations like '101: Odyssey in the Musical Planet' on Discontinu Records.
Shangaan Electro Wirenstrand (keyboards) are currently preparing their third album. While we are waiting for its arrival, and we have the angelic voices and dreamy synthetic lines of 'Machine Dreams' and 'Little Dragon' to be going on with. Ninja Tune & Big Dada present
18:30 Shuttle (Ninja Tune/US) DJ
Romero play Go Mag (Go Mag/ES) DJ Go Mag is one of Spain's most widely read music publications. The same broad perspective that has made the magazine a regular musical oasis is revisited year after year by the four hands of its most tried and tested names.
After making his bones on the Boston scene as part of the influential Basstown squad (the same collective that has given us names like Spank Rock, Crystal Castles and Diplo), Shuttle is a chameleon able to shift from style to style without any problems, retaining his credibility and the master's touch that has led him to remix Daedelus and The Death Set, and to sign for Ninja Tune. Steel basses at the service of disconcerting rhythms and atmospheres.
15:00 Toro y Moi
19:30 Dels
13:30 Half Nelson + Vidal
(Carpark/US) Live A true chillwave icon. His second album, 'Underneath the Pine,' is a record evocative of R. Stevie Moore’s homespun ruminations, David Axelrod’s sonic scope, the spacey disco of Mandre, and the pervasive funk of his first record. Chaz Bundick rose to the fore of the music blogosphere in summer 2009 when he and a few peers made their hazy bedroom recordings the most talked-about sound of the season, thanks to a blend of Brian Wilson's pop, 80s R&B, and Stone's Throw style hip-hop.
16:00 Floating Points (Eglo/UK) DJ Despite his work being spread across a handful of EPs and on compilations released on Eglo, R2 and Planet Mu, Sam Shepherd is all over the place. Gilles Peterson and Mary Anne Hobbs are keeping a very close eye, and his sound explores the meeting point between the smooth side of dubstep, abstract beats, cosmic house and boogie with a synthetic touch. 17:30 Little Dragon
(Peacefrog/SE) Live The positive reviews for their first two albums smoothed the way, and their recent collaboration on the latest album by Gorillaz gave the Swedish quartet a definite boost. Yukimi Nagano and his old school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrick Källgren (bass) and Håkan
(Ninja Tune/UK) Live With a first long player, 'Gob,' about to make him one of the surprise packages of 2011, on which he is accompanied by Micachu and Kwes, Dels gives us great tunes, like 'Shapeshift' and 'Trumpalump,' which make it perfectly obvious that Kieren Dickins is much more than just a rapper.
20:15 Offshore (Ninja Tune/UK) DJ After his success on the legendary Scottish label Stuff, Big Dada has signed up Ewan Robertson and is introducing him to the rest of the world. Killer bass lines, attention to detail and above all else, an incredible ability to capture dreamy electronic melodies. An impossible combination of influences (Autechre, The Neptunes, jungle, crunk) that seamlessly fits together. 21:15 Eskmo (Ninja Tune/US) Live Brendan Angelides' music is difficult to pigeonhole, but is part of the catalogues of Warp Records, Planet Mu and Ninja Tune, which means that it is not short on quality and personality. After several EPs and his eponymous debut on Ninja Tune, people are already starting to talk about an Eskmo sound, in which the many influences (hip-hop to experimental electronica, by way of IDM, funk and pop) combine gracefully and stealthily in continuous motion.
FRIDAY 17 12:00 Neuron (Imaginary Nonexistent Records/ES) DJ Marc Badosa offers us a live review of the tracks from his first release, 'Planet Fendor,' and material from his coming album. Minimalist dark drones with hints of distorsion combined with field recordings, fragments from the radio, TV, synths and any other source take listeners into unfamiliar territory. 13:30 Joan S. Luna (MondoSonoro/ES) DJ With a career of over fifteen years under his belt, Joan S. Luna is a true veteran of Barcelona's specialist music press. This time around, Joan brings a case full of relaxed electronic pop. 15:00 Facto y Los Amigos del Norte (ES) Live Marc Barrachina aka Facto, an exmember of the group Facto Delafé y las Flores Azules, begins a new personal project in 2011 as Facto y los Amigos del Norte. Miss Maiko, Nubla and Roger Rodés add their vocals, lyrics and instruments to the new songs by Facto. The songs of F.A.N. shift between hip-hop, reggae, soul and even reggaeton, with dance music always their point of reference. 15:45 Agoria (Infiné/FR) DJ
Although he is one of the most acclaimed names on the European techno scene today, Sébastien Devaud has always gone one step further, on exquisitely selected mix CDs, or with a label that has never hesitated to sign unusual talents such as Francesco Tristano and Bachar Mar-Khalifé. While the specialised press in France and beyond continues to sing the praises of his latest studio album, 'Impermanence,' this is a rare opportunity to enjoy his savoir-faire in a completely different setting.
17:15 Atmosphere (Rhymesayers Entertainment / US) Live Slug and Ant promise one of their powerful shows for their live performance at Sónar, featuring a complete band this time around to celebrate the release of their new album. Atmosphere are no normal rap group... They put Minneapolis on the alternative hip-hop map, and they are still one of the most
successful outfits on the scene years later, using complex and introspective verses on top of heavy basses constructed using fragments of classic R&B and rock.
18:15 DJ Raff (Nacional Records/ES) DJ DJ Raff is a Chilean DJ and MC based in Barcelona, who distributes his musical skills between hip-hop, electronica and rock indiscriminately. Having participated in over 50 projects, he has just released 'Latino and Proud' on Nacional Records, where he once again shows his irrepressible spirit and his healthy eclecticism. 19:15 Four Tet (Text/UK) Live Kieran Hebden arrives at Sónar on top form for a live presentation of the highlights of his acclaimed latest album 'There Is Love in You,' and his recent collaborations with Burial, Thom Yorke and Caribou. A top drawer producer and a maestro of meticulous electronica, Four Tet is almost unanimously regarded as one of the most important artists working today. 20:00 Nacho Marco (Loudeast/ES) DJ After a year full of productions, remixes and sessions, Nacho returns to Sónar. His most faithful followers are no doubt already in the picture as regards his recent output for a wide range of labels (from Japan to Finland), remixes for monsters like Paul Hardcastle and hot new releases on his own Loudeast Records, with new international signings that once again make Marco an object of scrutiny on the international house scene. 21:00 Dominique Young Unique
(Art Jam Records/US) Live At just over twelve years old, Dominique made her debut on the local scene in Tampa, Florida. The first thing that stood out from her mixtapes was the natural born self-confidence that has taken her onto stages around the world and to the studio of David Alexander, the producer of Yo!Majesty, among others. Banging tracks like 'Show my Ass' and 'The World Is Mine' are a frantically juicy preview of what is yet to come. When booty house and hip-hop come into contact, Dominique shines like a star.
Four Tet
SATURDAY 18 12:00 Nacho Bay (Producciones Vikingas/ES) DJ Nacho Bay has been on the decks since 1994, and has first-hand knowledge of the Balearic scene: he is a resident at the Cova d'en Xoroi in Menorca and a well-known face in Ibiza, where his sessions explore the warmer side of techno, deep house and electro. 13:30 Judah (Norweside/ES) DJ
DJ and producer Andrés Grobas has been carving his own niche in the Galician hip-hop scene for more than decade. On the decks, his style is an eclecticism with no hang-ups, with room for electrofunk, hip-hop, dubstep, grime, IDM and hip-house, featuring turntablist tricks and samplers so that everything fits together nicely.
15:00 No Surrender (ZerOKilled/US) Live A mixture of avant-rap, energetic rock and electro-punk conceived in terms of the most danceable surrealism. With the help of TV on the Radio, FreQ Nasty, Radioclit and Costanza Francavilla (Tricky's muse), the album 'Medicine Babies' promises to make them officially into stars. No Surrender will be accompanied by two special guests: Johan Karlberg of Radioclit and Costanza Francavilla. 15:45 Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio1/UK) DJ His tireless work, on his own labels and on the waves of BBC Radio 1, has been essential in the discovery of new talents and broadening the musical horizons of a generation of listeners, DJs and producers all over the world. From nu-jazz to dubstep, hip-hop to house and new Cuban music, Peterson is one of the best masters of ceremonies for the discovery of new sounds. 17:15 YelaWolf (Shady Records/US) Live From the heart of Alabama, YelaWolf has carved out a niche thanks to his faith in hip-hop, which he has used to cast out his demons and move on upwards, despite a back-story that inspires sleepless nights. All these stories nourish 'Trunk Muzik,' a mixtape released in 2010 which led him to sign for Shady Records, Eminem's label. With a rapping speed that makes the listener dizzy and an
independence of mind that led him to extol the virtues of classic rock, his debut LP 'Radioactive,' announced for the summer, is sure to set tongues wagging.
18:15 El Timbe (folCORE/ES) DJ Part of the folCORE audiovisual collective, but known above all as the creator of dumbia – a new explosive mixture of cumbia with dubstep, dancehall, funk, bass and kwaito – El Timbe creates countless global rhythms full of energy that turn the dancefloor inside out.
19:15 Shangaan Electro (Honest Jon's/ZA) Live A unique cultural phenomenon direct from the streets of Soweto. A musical style and a dance anchored in tradition but revived through the perspective of technology: the musical legacy of the Tsonga Shangaan people, reinterpreted using electronic instruments and an aesthetic halfway between surreal and magic. Rhythms at breakneck speed (over 180 BPM), processed voices and MIDI percussion to take the skills of the scene's most excellent dancers to the limit. 20:00 DJ Sith & David M (ES) DJ This couple of veterans of the La Coruña electronica scene join forces, sharing their vinyl and experience to engineer four-handed sessions featuring the deepest cuts in recent bass music. UK funky, UK garage, dubstep, drum'n'bass and other close relatives, all mixed with dexterity and originality. 21:00 Filewile (Mouthwatering Records/CH) Live Rewind: Andreas Ryser (Dustbowl) and Daniel Jakob (Dejot) started their music career in 2003, at the entrance to Sónar, playing live in the street. Their daring projects range from releasing a track every month online to creating a mobile sound system. Fast forward: with its roots always in dub, the Filewile sound has evolved to take in electronica, (space)funk and hip-hop, as well as the odd pop reference. 'Blueskywell,' their second album, brings them back to Sónar as a band line-up.

THURSDAY 16
FRIDAY 17
SATURDAY 18
13:00 Beat'A'Boom (Galbany Produccions/ES) Live Marc Ayza and DJ Helios, active members of the Cazique collective, present their new album Beat'A'Boom. It is a project in which the percussion of the instruments and beatbox makes an impression on the listener that is both cheeky and subtle at the same time. With the help of MC Blurum 13 (from Washington), Toni Saigi on keyboards and Visitor on visuals, the group provides a sonic and visual journey on which jazz and hip-hop converge and merge at every turning.
13:00 Stendhal Syndrome (ES) Live With their first self-produced LP (entitled 'Blinding Lights') available on their website for free downloading this Barcelona duo have used the tools they have found to hand to carve out a niche in the trip-hop, dubstep and downtempo jungle. Their presentation at Sónar includes real time visuals by Alba G. Corral.
13:00 Edredón (Origami/ES) Live This quintet from Carabanchel drink deep from the wellspring of the electronic side of Krautrock, with references ranging from the Apache beat of Neu! to early Kraftwerk and the more cosmic side of Daft Punk. Their eponymously titled LP is a collection of minimalist songs with a psychedelic atmosphere and celebratory tone. Irreverent and galactic.
17:00 Astrud + Col·lectiu Brossa (Elefant/ES) Live With 'Lo Nuevo,' the latest outing by Astrud, Manolo and Genís, they redefine and consolidate, look within themselves and leap into the musical abyss accompanied by the instrumental group Col·lectiu Brossa. Together they will be reviewing the most well-known tracks of Astrud's repertoires from a completely different perspective: with the help of a violin, cello, accordion, hurdy gurdy, and of course Manolo's voice and synths from Genís. The wizards of Spanish pop continue to turn the screw a little tighter.
17:00 Global Communication (UK) Live After more than ten years off the radar, Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard get together to revive the spark of one of their most legendary projects, Global Communication, and for a live recreation of the contents of one of the electronica standards of the 1990s, their classic album '76:14.' Originally released in 1994 and re-released several times since then, the album is still considered an ambient masterpiece today, and even made The Guardian's list of 1,000 albums that everyone should listen to before they die. A very special reunion accompanied by visuals especially for the occasion. One of their few shows, and eagerly awaited!
17:00 Nicolas Jaar (Circus Company/US) Live This young New Yorker with Chilean roots has already attracted the attention of more discerning ears with his first maxis (released on Brooklyn's exquisite Wolf + Lamb label), on which a Latin influence slips in between synthetic house rhythms with jazz and electronic dance nuances. On 'Space Is Only Noise,' his acclaimed debut LP for Circus Company, Jaar slows down the pace and hits the spot with some elegant vocal samples, sensuous strings and a touch that is both sexy and melancholy, charming in its listeners on first hearing.
19:00 Hauschka
His CV began to be written before he was born: he is the son of avant-garde composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton, Tyondai has finished his stint in Battles and is now making a name for himself as a solo artist. Warp has naturally taken a close interest and released the album 'Central Market,' a perfect blend of his intense sessions of orchestrated loops, in which his guitar, keyboards and voice construct an epic and emotional soundtrack.
(Fat Cat/DE) Live Volker Bertelmann takes up the legacy of John Cage and his prepared pianos and links them to his humorous and restless spirit: the result is absolutely unpredictable. It may sound like something cinematic and gentle, or it may sound like... techno and house, as is the case on his release for Fat Cat, 'Foreign Landscapes,' on which his piano takes care of the 4/4, and is accompanied by Samuli Kosminen, Múm's drummer. To present this live work, Hauschka is bringing us a show with piano, drums and electronica, with a lot of magician's tricks that he keeps hidden up his sleeve.
20:30 Raime
20:30 Ghostpoet
19:00 Tyondai Braxton (Warp/US) Live
(Blackest Ever Black/UK) Live This enigmatic London duo broke through with two EPs released on Blackest Ever Black, two works that carefully consider the more calculating, complex and ghostly side of dubstep as well as highlighting their great potential. It is an unprecedented and impossible cross between dubstep and house, with one eye on the European Gothic tradition and/or minimal dance and the other on the future.
(Brownswood Recordings/UK) Live With a family tree taking in Nigeria and Coventry and a highly unusual sensitivity, Obaro Ejimiwe can be proud of his reputation as the oddball on the British scene, which he has earned in his own right since his debut in 2010. His unique style is based on profound lyrics recited with a mixture of melancholy and unconventional beats (a little wonky and a little hip-hop) which charmed Gilles Peterson and made him sign him to his label in record time. A name to keep a very close eye on in 2011.
19:00 Apparat (Shitkatapult/DE) Live The co-founder of Shitkatapult with Marco Haas (aka T. Raumschmiere) and the architect of a sound and aesthetic all his own, Sascha Ring has defined and blurred the frontiers of IDM with his output for Shitkatapult, B-Pitch Control and his now classic DJ-Kicks session for !K7, featuring his natural and uninhibited introduction of dubstep and techno into the formula. He will be releasing a new LP in 2011, presented with a full band on the Sónar stage. Melodic electronica with drums, percussion, cello and a piano in a shift away from the dancefloor. 20:30 Actress (Werk/UK) Live
Live and direct, and with visuals that emphasise his rhythmic wizardry, Darren Cunningham invokes all the Detroit and Chicago classics and matches them to obtain one of the freshest conundrums in recent electronica. On his debut album, 'Hazyville,' and the subsequent and unanimously acclaimed 'Splazsh,' Actress carries out a marvellous deconstruction of techno, house and R&B, full of hypercomplex rhythms and melodies ranging from the warm to the ephemeral.

THURSDAY 16 Red Bull Music Academy presents
12:00 Niño (Donky Pitch/ES) Live Ignacio Valbuena was associated with hip-hop when he began his musical career, but he turned the formula on its head somewhere on the way and today his freak groove is constantly evolving through dubstep, R&B, funk, boogie and any other style which he brings his synths to bear on. 13:00 Pai Mei (Del Palo/ES) Live Griffi is the man behind this new project on the Del Palo label, which is completed by the MCs Anqui and Aqeel. Using this alias as a tribute to the shaolin master in 'Kill Bill,' the trio brings a completely contemporary hip-hop sound that drinks deep from both the new currents in British bass music and timeless soul. 14:00 Hiroaki Oba (BITB/JP) Live After playing numerous high-profile Tokyo venues like Air, Womb, and Superdeluxe, Oba started his own night deep in the basement of the Oath venue titled 'License to Dance,' which has since grown into a respected destination party. Accompanied by self-made video projections, Oba's live show has been a hit the world over, and with a full length coming out this summer on Ki Records.
15:00 AEIOU (Universal/MX) Live
Though signed to a major, nominated for a Latin Grammy, and involved with bands like Novocain and Porter, AEIOU is actually quite the anti-pop star. Musically, his style is a beautiful concoction of confident lyricism, squeezebox rock, Mexican folk, electronic tinkering, and theatrical dance music. A truly special pop performance.
16:00 Poirier feat. Boogat (Ninja Tune/CA) DJ His releases on Ninja Tune, Chocolate Industries, and the Argentinean digital cumbia label, ZZK, have kept the DJ and producer in demand across the globe. Poirier's work shows a knack for blending tropical rhythms, whether it be soca, dancehall, or cumbia, with a healthy dose of bass. The roster of vocalists he's worked with reads like the posters
in the corner of your favorite jerkpatty store – Busy Signal, Burro Banton, and Face-T to name a few.
17:15 kidkanevil (First Word/UK) Live Growing up on a healthy diet of jazz, sound system culture and the golden age of sampling, kidkanevil developed a distinctive downbeat sound over the years that's probably best described with his own words: 'imaginary hip-hop.' A member of the experimental band, Stateless, and former writer for Straight No Chaser, he has received the thumbs-up from everybody from DJ Shadow to Daedelus. 18:30 The Brandt Brauer Frick
Ensemble (!K7/DE) Live This trio builds on a basis of live acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, creating their own kind of acoustic techno. Prepared piano, vibraphone, synths, rhodes, drum kits and bass guitars are all mixed to walk the fine line between club and concert hall. Having released records on Tartelet Records, the Doppelshcall offshoot The Gym, and most recently, Studio !K7, the three show no signs of slowing.
19:30 San Soda
(We Play House/BE) DJ San Soda's tracks have already caused a stir with discerning house DJs around the globe, dropping a series of splendid solo 12 inches as well as under his FCL moniker alongside We Play House label head honcho Red D. With an ear for deep house, soulful techno and everything in between, his tracks are pure sonic heart-lifters.
20:45 Jullian Gomes
(G. Family/ZA) DJ Jullian Gomes grew up in the Republic of South Africa on a steady diet of Portuguese chicken, soul, Latin and kwaito before discovering house music at the tender age of eight. Since his first gig in 2003, he's released music on South African labels Multi-Racial and House Afrika, followed by records on Earthrumental and Realtone.

FRIDAY 17 Red Bull Music Academy presents
12:00 Carlos Hollers (Goad Rec/ES) DJ Hollers is a chameleon of electronica, whose sessions adapt to his environment but who never changes his personality. More than eighteen years as a DJ and producer have given him the broadness of perspective necessary to mix and match all types of influences on both his own label and at the famous Hollers Nite evenings. 13:30 Daisuke Tanabe
(Circulations/JP) Live After carefully honing his craft from the age of 16, it was his first EP release in 2006 that brought him to the attention of tastemakers like Gilles Peterson and Pete Adarkwah. Taking inspiration from ambient, jazz, folk, reggae, and the entire canon of electronic music, Tanabe assembles superbly subtle compositions made up of distinctively miniscule layers of sound.
14:30 Matador Rockers
(Del Palo/ES) Live Hard but positive hip-hop, with a dynamic, direct and entertaining live show, able to move the feet and tickle the humour of the most serious dancefloor denizen. Adopted by the legendary Griffi, this freewheeling advanced hip-hop outfit shows that Catalonia still has a lot to say in terms of urban rhythms. Ingenious rhymes on top of razor-sharp beats.
15:15 Star Eyes
(Trouble & Bass/US) DJ As the femme fatale of the Trouble & Bass label, she has pioneered the sound of haunted house: an appropriate summation indeed, as her music is most decidedly creepy with a kick drum. This sonic skullduggery has earned her an infamous reputation worldwide for her bass-drenched DJ sets combining ghetto house, UK funky, dubstep and techno – often with her singing on top.
16:30 Zinc (Bingo Beats/UK) DJ
Blending the roots of jungle, ragga, 2 step, and UK funky seamlessly for close to two decades, boom tunes like 'Super Sharp Shooter,' '138 Trek,' or more recently, ‘Wile Out’ with Ms. Dynamite, stand as sure-fire anthems in the breakbeat
Illum Sphere arena. These days you can catch Zinc in the studio with Katy B, a rising London vocalist he’s help discover and propel to respectable chart success.
17:30 Katy B (Eglo/UK) Live Urban music with a UK hallmark has once again burst into the commercial arena with Katy B and her much talked-about debut LP, 'On a Mission,' on which her angelical voice pulls no punches in its treatment of R&B, funky, house and garage. It is not surprising, as the new star of British pop can often be found in the company of Ms. Dynamite and Magnetic Man, and has even tackled the Kevin Saunderson classics 'Good Life' and 'As I.' 18:30 Teebs (Brainfeeder/US) Live Teebs creates music in an avantgarde, beat-driven style, though with a unique flair for absorbing sound – as exemplified on his outstanding 2010 debut album, 'Ardour,' on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. Droning, wet chords combine with off-kilter percussion. Snippets of found-sound skirt in and out of the mix. It's mood music. But mood music with bass. 19:30 Discodeine (Dirty/FR) Live A French duo with a deep love for the soulful and strange, Discodeine has spread their bizarre dancefloor message to a ravenously growing global fan base since 2007. Born from the minds of French producers, Pilooski and Pentile, the tandem has amassed a slew of cult followers with their science fiction-influenced disco music. Any performance of theirs is guaranteed to be filthy – in a good way, of course. 20:30 B. Bravo (Frite Nite/US) Live His slow crawl, outerspace-influenced synth funk is reminiscent of the midnight grooves of Mtume, or more recently, DâM-FunK – though with a sweatier feel. B. Bravo’s trained musical abilities on keyboards and saxophones shine through in his productions: tracks like last year's 'Computa Love' are far more songs than grooves – and far more funk than might be healthy.
SATURDAY 18 Red Bull Music Academy presents
12:00 Debilorithmicos (Molts Records/ES) DJ Soul, hip-hop, dubstep and electronica from the Barcelona studio of Joan Pedrosa and Josh Fontan. Releases such as 'Dimarts i Dijous' and the recent contemporary digital soul gem entitled 'Turn my Clock' highlight their skills at interlinking flow and rhythms and soul with carefully selected arrangements. 13:30 00Genesis (Rxlngr/US) Live Lloye Sean Warner is truly a modern-day renaissance man. Only 20 years old, he can paint, he does design work, he speaks with energy and poise – and he’s one of the most creative producers to emerge from the post-Dilla beats world. His slumpy hip-hop oozes with unique texture and percussion. Following on his debut EP for Rxlngr, All City put out his most recent 7,' a collaboration with future soul songstress Musinah and a certain Flying Lotus. 14:30 Venice (Gomma/IT) DJ
Harkening back to the good old days of cosmic disco, the Romebased Venice resurrects the genre – and infuses it with a healthy dose of contemporary sweat. His display influences of psychedelia, yachtrock, house, and Italian prog. It’s a great combination that oozes extravagance, sophistication, and sex. His DJ sets are known for their razor-like mixing precision and inspirational hedonism – something the Italians have down to a science.
15:30 David Rodigan (Kiss FM/UK) DJ In the past 30 years, Rodigan has grown to become a true legend in the reggae world and a respected father figure for today's dubstep and bass producers. He only recently compiled a roots'n'culture compilation for BBE Records, went back to back with Toddla T at a host of electronic music festivals, voiced an album intro for dubstep producer Caspa, and still hosts a Monday night slot on Kiss FM, while constantly touring the globe without even a suggestion of fatigue.
17:00 Electric Wire Hustle (BBE/NZ) Live Electric Wire Hustle bring a blend of shrugging kiwi beats and floating Motown vibes, and won over taste-makers on both sides of the Atlantic, not to mention the Pacific, with last year's album on BBE and several EPs on Japanese label Wonderful Noise. Mara TK, Manzilla and Taay Ninh sling together guitar, keys, drums, vocals and samples in a hypnotic live show. 18:00 Illum Sphere (Hoya:Hoya/UK) DJ Based in the soggy city of Manchester, producer and DJ Illum Sphere creates a psychedelic, moody, and bass-heavy twist on the beats genre. After a string of releases on Manchester's Fat City records, Illum Sphere has since gone on to collaborate with Martyn, Mono/Poly, kidkanevil, and a list of others too long to mention. And when not working on his own material, the rest of his time is spent promoting his notorious Hoya:Hoya club night and label. 19:15 Cosmin TRG (Rush Hour/RO) DJ Whether it's drum'n'bass, dubstep, future garage, or twisted techno – the Bucharest native has been Romania's riddim grinder no. 1 for years. Releasing on Rush Hour, Hemlock, 50 Weapons, Hotflush, Tempa, and a whole bunch of other hotly tipped labels, the excitement around him has grown steadily, since he kickstarted Pearson Sound's Hessle Audio label back in 2007. Hitek house! 20:30 Tiger & Woods (Running Back/Outer space) Live There's been quite some hum around this mysterious duo's output on the Editainment label, and their trademark fusion of boogie, house and compressed funk – while the live Tiger & Woods experience has already touched down at some of Europe's most discerning disco outposts. Both members have also visited the Red Bull Music Academy planet, and made some intergalactic connections there. They'll be joined by Running Back honcho and DJ extraordinaire Gerd Janson.

FRIDAY 17
SATURDAY 18
13:00 Barcelona Laptop Orchestra (ESMUC/ES) Live Among the members of this laptop orchestra are lecturers and students at Catalonia's Higher School of Music, and researchers from the Music Technology Group at Pompeu Fabra University, and its repertoire essentially consists of reinterpretations of classics of electro-acoustic music. A meeting point for sonic researchers, digital luthiers, performers and composers, to investigate new musical control interfaces and new paradigms for networked performance.
13:00 Xesús Valle (Alg-a/ES) Live Xesús Valle records all types of sonic landscapes, excursions and events and manipulates them on his computer to create narrative compositions in real time. This self-taught Vigo-based artist also creates soundtracks and designs sonic spaces for documentaries, theatre and the Internet.
13:00 L'Eix (ES) Live A collaborative project between Ferran Fages (guitar) and Oriol Rosell (electronics) which is a natural exploration of silence and melody, the fusion of acoustic and synthetic textures and the construction of sonic spaces which could be songs in another world. Interesting beginnings.
16:00 Sewing Machine Orchestra
16:30 EVOL (ALKU/ES) Live
17:30 Open Reel Ensemble (JP) Live This alias hides an unusual group of five young musicians led by Ei Wada (who recruited four friends from university for his project) and its stand-out feature is its signature instrument: old rolls of magnetic tape that the group's members connect to computers from the latest generation, creating unprecedented melodies, tones and sounds and providing a live show that defies any possible comparison with anything else you have ever seen on a stage. 19:30 Daito Manabe (JP) Live
In his startling performance 'Face Visualizer,' a computer-controlled system sends electric stimuli to various muscles in the artists' face, which react and move to the sound of a matrix of bleeps and clicks converted into spasms. This highly regarded digital artist presents a show in which the visualisation of data, Japanese minimalism and an imaginative take on body art all converge.
21:00 Denseland (Mosz/DE) Live
An apparently simple starting point: vocal, bass and percussion, processed with great skill to construct webs of phonemes, matrices of organic rhythm and atmospheres halfway between the cinematic and the purely experimental. 'Chunk,' the latest offering from this trio consisting of the acclaimed North American vocal improviser David Moss, Hannes Strobl and Hanno Leichtmann, showcases the potential of a combination of the warmth of acoustic textures with more abstract structures and treatments. A great lesson in improvisation and originality.
SonarCinema is a programme of projections that establishes parallels between music and the image in movement, at the same time portraying distinct aspects of contemporary culture through documentary films and audiovisual pieces of recent creation.
(CA) Live The European debut of the latest project by the Canadian artist Martin Messier brings us this unusual orchestra in which all the sounds are made by sewing machines made in the 40s, amplified and processed by computers. A complex network of strange rhythmic patterns, which create all sorts of mental associations among the audience, thanks to the evocative power of these small industrial marvels.
Ever since the late 90s, the mutant collective led by Roc Jiménez de Cisneros has been operating in a vortex of extreme synthesis, where cosmology and rave culture meet head-on. This approach to algorithmic composition, which is as playful as it is radical, has appeared on the catalogues of labels including Entr'acte, Mego, Presto!? and their own ALKU. Deformed hoovers and asymmetrical basslines pay tribute to their now famous slogan: 'computer music for hooligans.'
Tri Angle presents
17:30 oOoOO (US) Live
A very special set, which is part DJ session (spinnig his own material) and part live show. Despite his mysterious name (pronounced simply as 'oh') and his enthusiasm for disinformation, this San Francisco witch house producer has attracted considerable attention since his first cuts of nebulous beats saw the light of day. If you've heard 'No Summr4U' or 'Burnout Eyess' you know exactly what we're talking about.
18:30 How to Dress Well (US) Live Tom Krell divides his time between Cologne and Brooklyn, and was one of the big surprises of 2010. A philosophy student by day, a home-spun producer by night, his album 'Love Remains,' a strange combination of low definition pop, R&B from the early 90s and reverberating falsettos that ended up in quite a few best of the year lists thanks to its ethereal and diaphanous character. 19:30 Holy Other (US) Live With a sonic pallette similar to IDM but a completely personal conception of rhythm, the atmospheric electronica of Holy Other often seem to be recording puzzles in slow motion: ambient and slowed-down 2-step with viciously distorted vocal samples, moving into a different dimension of tempo and time. 21:00 Oy (Creaked/CH) Live
Armed with a sampler, two mikes and infinite amounts of imagination, this Swissbased Ghanaian creates small stories to suit all audiences in real time to shape a strange world in which hip-hop, soul, pop and impro all live happily together. Magic, mystery and sampladelic virtuosity.
Disboot presents
17:30 Downliners Sekt (ES) Live One of the most pleasant and intriguing surprises of 2010, Barcelona's enigmatic Downliners Sekt have won over a string of illustrious characters, ranging from Mary Anne Hobbs to Kevin 'The Bug' Martin, among many others. The duo give a good going-over to the best of the past, ranging from the science of Autechre to the ghostly echoes of the Burial Mix series, and blend it in with dubstep, downtempo and UK garage, and once it is all mashed up together, they dust it down with slices of R&B vocals. 19:30 C156 (ES) Live
With a long history behind them in dubstep, jungle, house and hip-hop, Cauto, The Gardner, Dr Res and Drome defy the boundaries of genre using sixteen hands and four brains. An outpouring of imagination, references and grooves that endangers subwoofers and skeletons in equal measures. Live, they are frenetic: four laptops, a percussion and a violin. Crazy.
21:00 Hype Williams (UK-DE) What happens when someone has a lot of ideas but not much money to put them into practice? The psychedelic redefinition of lo-fi known as Hype Williams. Enigmatic and deliberately elusive, their name was blatantly stolen from a North American video director and their style defies any attempt at traditional classification. It is an impossible puzzle of low quality sounds, twisted rhythms, electronic noise, slices of pop culture and acid humour, which against all the odds, has received unceasing acclaim from the top music critics.

JUNE 16 - 19 Sound aviaries: music and birds Jan Jelinek, BJ Nilsen, Carl Michael von Hausswolff, Francisco López, Sawako, and a collective sound installation by ALKU featuring Oswald Berthold, Chris Brown, Anders Dahl, Joe Gilmore, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros, Fredrik Olofsson, Tim Perkis and Peter Worth. CosmoCaixa. C/ Isaac Newton 26, Barcelona 'Sound aviaries: music and birds' explores the relationships between human ability, multimedia art and birdsong from various perspectives. To what extent is our music the result of listening to and imitating birdsong? Without knowing it, these small vertebrates are maestros of
melody, harmony and rhythm. This has been the case since long before music as we know it was created, and before the first musicians began to explore the sonic properties of musical instruments, developed and perfected over millennia. Birds do not compose, perform or write music in the way that people do, but are a long way ahead of us in terms of producing complex structures of sound for communication. Recently, some types of birds have even been shown to be able to react to music created by humans. Curated by Arnau Horta.

The Janus Machine
OTHER MIRRORS CCCB, Floor -1. From 12:00 to 21:30 The portrait has been a constant feature throughout the history of art. Since ancient times, the imitation and representation of the physical features and character of our fellow men have been responsible for a large proportion of plastic production in all human cultures. Today, using new technologies, we reinvent our identity in the virtual space on a daily basis; we redefine ourselves based on a reflection of our desires. We project ourselves as the people we would like to be. Or to put it another way, we construct subjective portraits of ourselves. OFFFMàtica presents a selection of interactive works based around the concept of the portrait. From the treatment of pixels to reality and its representation, taking in interpretation and distortion, the displays asks: how does technology depict us? And what parts of our identity – image, movement, character – does it use to do so? OFFFMàtica is a joint production between OFFF, Sónar and CCCB. Aram Barthol (DE) 0,16 '0,16' is a light installation in which the viewer's shadow is turned into pixels. The piece consists of a wall made of small square frames covered in transparent paper on both sides. There is a third layer of paper in the centre of the frames, and a lamp illuminates a visitor from a distance, whose shadow is broken down into squares, thereby presenting a pixelated human figure on the other side of the installation. The titles refer to the screen's resolution, of 0.16 pixels per inch. Daito Manabe & Motoi Ishibashi (JP) Fadeout An image captured by infrared camera is drawn using laser irradiation on a phosphorescent screen. The laser 'paints' the image on the screen from one side to the other, with each movement creating a small shiny area that only remains for a short period of time, before returning to its original state. Based on this simple principle, it is possible to create a representation in great detail with shades, gradations and contrasts, creating an image that is as realistic as it is ephemeral. Daito Manabe & Motoi Ishibashi (JP) Points 'Points' is a work that traces the audience's image using a system consisting of a 3D camera and a compressed air pistol. The programme calculates the edges around the visitor using the depth data obtained from the camera, and
Mirror Piece makes them into a sequence of targets for the pistol. The system uses the famous mathematical combinatorial optimisation problem known as the 'traveller problem' to calculate the optimum paths of the two high resolution actuators that control the compressed air pistol. Ignore (ES) Photobooth 'Photobooth' is a slightly different version of the classic instant photo booth: the user is photographed and surprised by a system that does not aim to be functional, but instead to make the visitor emotionally involved. The booth takes images of the various moments during the user's surprise, and aims to take them to a viral dimension by publishing them on social networks. Joshua Davis (US) The Yelling Room Joshua Davis is a very highly respected artist, designer and technologist from New York (he works with tools he creates himself) and is considered an icon of modernity and has always been eagerly awaited in previous OFFF events, at which he has been a regular collaborator. For this first event, OFFFMàtica he has prepared a piece specifically commissioned for the festival: an installation that enables viewers to create various portraits based on the sounds they make. Kyle McDonald, Zach Lieberman, Theo Watson & Daito Manabe (US-UK-JP) The Janus Machine Sitting in a chair opposite the scanner, the viewer is bathed in light and the system scans his or her profile in 3D. This portrait captures the visitor's face and compares it with a portrait produced earlier. This comparison creates a silhouette of the captured form, and encourages a search for similar portraits. 'The Janus Machine' (its name refers to the Roman god of duality) is an entertaining look at relationships with other people based on light, and encourages exploration of these similarities. Marnix de Nijs (NL) Mirror Piece This installation scans the facial features and characteristics of the person looking in the mirror and compares them with those of many other portraits in a database that includes individuals that have become famous for being controversial or who are even criminals in some cases. Once the similarity has been established, a computerised voice publicly announces the name of the person identified with each viewer, highlighting the increasing use of biometric technology in the public space which according to Nijs, is something that should arouse our skepticism.
Set Hunter & Eric Rosenbaum (US) Stillness Clock, Motion Clock This work explores the perception of time – while moving and at rest – using the slit-scanning technique (similar to capturing movement using photographs). The work consists of two video clocks: the one on the left responds to the viewer's movement, and leaves a jagged trail of the activity with the passing of time; the one on the right is activated only when there is no movement, while the visitor's image emerges slowly. A comparison of the two clocks leads to the question: does time pass more slowly when you are moving or when you keep still? Overtype Studio Tour: BCN Vol 1.0. Brosmind, Joel Lozano, Hanako Mimiko, Flan*, Luis NCT, Enric Sant, Happymiaow (ES) Various works Overtype is a research project headed by Flan* (flan.cat) focusing on the study of the expression of the stroke and combination between drawing and technology. In this case, 'Overtype Studio Tour: BCN Vol. 1.0' includes works by six Barcelona's studios: Brosmind, Joel Lozano, Hanako Mimiko, Luis NCT, Enric Sant, Flan* and Happymiaow. Each of them has to use different artistic processes and tools to illustrate and/or design the portraits of the members of each studio. VV.AA. Online projects OFFFMàtica also offers a selection of online website and projects which are of particular interest in terms of their applications and works related to the world of the portrait. Some of them allow the viewer to interact by means of webcams (Source Laboratory, Face Your Pockets), while others distort and manipulate faces created beforehand (Monoface), and others play with typography in relation to human body language (Helvetica Face, Type Face Project).

THURSDAY 16 20:00 Steve Reich: 'Music for 18 Musicians' and 'Sextet' interpreted by bcn216 + Synergy Vocals + Carles Santos (ES-UK) Live Steve Reich has been a key musician for several generations. A pioneer of minimalism defined by the New York Times as 'the greatest living American composer,' Reich's work will be the star of the show at the Sónar 2011 opening night at L'Auditori. Reich redefined the direction of contemporary music in the 60s and 70s by laying the foundations of what we know today as the American minimalist movement. In the words of critic and writer Alex Ross: 'On some days, as familiar shimmering patterns echo on the soundtracks of com-

mercials and from the loudspeakers of dance clubs, it seems as though we are living in a world scored by Reich.' His daring and enormous talent are highlighted in his work, which features the use of repetition as an expression form of the highest order and a clear commitment to experimentation with new formats, such as the creation of tape loops and phasing patterns, sound patterns played simultaneously by two or instruments with slight time lags between them. The concert will consist of two of Reich's most emblematic works, 'Music for 18 Musicians' and 'Sextet,' performed by the instrumental group bcn216 with the vocal group Synergy Vocals and the Spanish pianist Carles Santos.
Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto
SUNDAY 19 22:00 Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto (DE-JP) Live Sónar and the Grec Festival collaborated for the first time last year, and are working together again this year, presenting the collaboration between two of the most important sonic researchers and artists of our era: the German electronic artist Alva Noto and the great Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto (winner of an Oscar for his soundtrack to Bernardo Bertolucci's 1987 'The Last Emperor'). On this occasion, the two musicians have worked on a new album, entitled 'summvs' (released on Germany's renowned raster-noton label in May this year), and a joint tour they have christened the 's tour,' which can be enjoyed at Sónar 2011 with the closing concert in the special setting of the Teatre Grec,
which will also be the prestigious finishing touch to Sónar 2011. Nicolai and Sakamoto describe their latest collaboration as 'passages of sparse yet emotionally charged and passionate piano solos embedded in sine waves or reworked to establish new aesthetics of piano sound.' It is a new foray into the interaction between electronica and acoustic sounds – with the German processing sounds and images while the Japanese shows all his wisdom on the piano – and a new opportunity to appreciate the talent of two unique artists.

00:00 Angel Molina (ES) DJ 00:45 Underworld (Cooking Vinyl/UK) Live Underworld is simply one of the most important groups in the history of electronic music. Influential, personal, as successful as they are extravagant, Hyde and Smith have broken all possible moulds. Their fans already know what to expect from their show: spectacular audiovisuals and tons of energy.
James Murphy
FRIDAY 17 21:00 Doors open 22:00 MouseUp (Hivern/ES) DJ MouseUp is well-known for his variety of registers and his refined technique, which he presents in all his sets, from the wildest to the deepest. Today, he gives us a session that reviews all the music that has inspired the Hivern label. 23:30 Trentemøller (Sugar Hill/US) Live One of the heroes of Danish electronica. His productions, thrilling landscapes that alternate downtempo with analogue warmth, distorsion with nods to indie-rock and bursts of sunny electronica, fill the stage with a light all their own.
04:45 Boys Noize
02:15 The Gaslamp Killer (Brainfeeder/US) DJ Being considered the most off the wall of the beatmakers on the California scene is no easy task... Signed to Flying Lotus' label, this DJ who possesses epic and dramatic touches like few others is perfectly able to switch from the psychedelia of Jimi Hendrix to the otherwordly bleeps of Harmonic 313 with barely a blink of an eye.
06:15 Djedjotronic
03:15 Magnetic Man (Columbia Records/UK) Live Formed by three of the most important artists in the genre, Skream, Benga and Artwork, Magnetic Man is the first dubstep-based project to take a quantitative leap with the clear aim of reaching a mass audience.
01:15 Dizzee Rascal (Dirtee Stank/UK) DJ London rapper Dizzee Rascal needs no introduction. 'Tongue n' Cheek,' his most recent album, is business as usual: a colourful grime puzzle containing B-more hip-hop, synthpop, reggae, house and whatever else it takes to take the party to wherever he wants it to be. A whirlwind of rhymes, energy and bass on stage.
04:00 Djedjotronic (Boys Noize Records/FR) DJ 'Electro bitchy dance' is a term coined by the man himself to designate this blend of upfront techno, frantic electro and sturdy breaks that have made him famous all over the world. (Boys Noize Records/DE) DJ A mixture of classic acid, odd beats, techno and underground daring. Alexander Ridha's post-electro with a punk attitude continues to gain converts. A spectacular show with visuals and a set of lights designed especially for the occasion. (Boys Noize Records/FR) DJ
SATURDAY 18 21:00 Doors open 22:00 Angel Molina (ES) DJ
Two very different sets designed for each point during the night. The first, on a similar wavelength to Chris Cunningham, is one of his well-known odes to darkness, from mutant beats to witch house. His second set takes us into more danceable territory, with techno on a more classic tip.
23:00 Chris Cunningham (UK) Live The British producer, video artist and musician is probably one of the most influential artists of recent years. His live shows are an audiovisual earthquake with cuts of unreleased material and remixes of other artists' work, with his special sensitivity acting as the keynote throughout.
04:15 Surgeon (UK) DJ
At his headquarters in Birmingham, Tony Child has been dissecting the city's industrial heritage and darkness for years, in dozens of productions for leading labels and legendary sessions in which he unleashes all his techno energy straight to the audience's gut, in a constantly evolving style that even takes in dubstep and more abstract sounds.
05:45 Silent Servant (Sandwell District/US) DJ From Minneapolis, Juan Mendez produces innovative and eclectic techno tracks, loyal to the experimental and uncompromising spirit of the Sandwell District collective. On the decks, Silent Servant reviews the best of the past and present of underground techno, with an emphasis on minimalism and industrial reminiscences.
00:30 MouseUp (Hivern/ES) DJ
02:15 Steve Aoki (Dim Mak/US) DJ A DJ, promoter, producer and founder of the Dim Mak label, Steve is also the man behind the recent club hit 'Brrrat!,' cowritten by Armand van Helden. Among those benefiting from his remixing magic are Michael Jackson, Tiga and many more. His debut album features plenty of other celebrities, from Lil Jon to Bloc Party, who add the finishing touch to his high-flying house productions. 03:15 Die Antwoord (Cherrytree Records/ZA) Live This South African trio has revolutionised the music scene over the last year. Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek mix rap, dance music, roots and a unique look. The kings of zef rhyme Af-
Buraka Som Sistema
rikaans mixed with English, over productions halfway between rave and the ghetto, with an iconography that is a combination of sex, street violence and surreal humour.
04:15 A-Trak (Fool's Gold/CA) DJ A-Trak is the remixer and producer in vogue. His Duck Sauce project, in the company of Armand van Helden, has recorded one of the season's stormers, the massive 'Barbra Streisand.' And if we add the feverish activity of his Brooklyn label Fool's Gold, A-Trak is on top form, as evidenced by his new audiovisual show. 05:30 James Murphy (DFA/US) DJ Having recently called it a day with LCD Soundsystem with legendary concerts in his beloved New York, James Murphy returns to the Sónar stages to delight us with one of his exquisite sessions as a selector of priceless disco, house and funk gems.
SATURDAY 18 21:00 Doors open 22:00 Pablo Sánchez (Lovemonk-GAMM/VE) DJ Both at the decks and at the studio, Sánchez explores the different shades of dance music from soul and funk to disco, deep house and broken beats. A well balanced mix of forward leaning beats and textures. 23:30 Janelle Monáe (The Wondaland Arts Society/ US) Live Janelle Monáe was born to be on stage: she left her Kansas hometown to move to Broadway but fortunately ended up in the music business because she wanted to reach more people. 00:30 Africa Hitech (Warp/AU-UK) Live Under the alias of Africa Hitech, Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek have defined a common space to explore their shared taste for elastic basses, dancehall riddims, futuristic soul, electro's more visionary side and the more perverse areas of grime. With the backing of Warp,
Janelle Monáe
the duo imagines a musical future in which roots and synthesis are difficult to tell apart.
01:30 Buraka Som Sistema (Fabric/PT) Live They introduced us to kuduro, the Angolan dance culture, and we couldn't help asking them back. The reason is very simple: it's impossible to resist their crushing bass, breathtaking percussion and the rough finish of their dancefloor hits. It is an unpolished and almost tribal sound that has won over M.I.A., Diplo and many more. 02:30 Mary Anne Hobbs (UK) DJ This devotee of motorbikes and low frequencies pushes the boundaries of the unknown on the global dancefloor. Mary Anne Hobbs returns to Sónar by Night into the SonarPub stage for the first time to treat us to one of her flawless DJ sessions, where rhythm is the theme but not the only ingredient: expect to find dubstep, UK funky, techno, hiphop and all points in between. 03:30 Paul Kalkbrenner (Paul Kalkbrenner Musik/DE) Live Born in Leipzig but based in Berlin, the name of Paul Kalkbrenner, closely linked with B-pitch Control, started to move the masses after his performance as the lead in the film 'Berlin Calling,' for which he also provided the soundtrack. In 2011 he will be releasing a documentary about his world tour last year, although it is better to see him live and enjoy his mastery of the dancefloor and his ability to communicate with his audiences. Visuals by Pfadfinderei. 05:00 James Holden (Border Community/UK) Live A set featuring dance and hedonism with firm foundations from an unsung genius of modern electronica. Since he began his meteoric rise to the top in 1999, James Holden has constantly surprised critics and fans with devastating singles, mix-CDs, remixes and brilliant sessions in which he leaps from techno to IDM to neo-trance with a conoisseur's touch.

23:30 Cut Copy

00:30 Benji B
(Doldrums/UK) DJ Both on Radio 1 and at his Deviation evenings, Benji B is internationally recognised for his constant scanning of the underground in search of the most advanced beats, in the fields of hip-hop, house, Detroit techno, boogie, soul, funk or dubstep.
Yelle
03:30 Redlight feat. Ms. Dynamite & Dread MC (UK) DJ His style, halfway between dubstep and house, is a mould breaker. And as if the headrush of bass that all his sets promise was not enough, the contributions on the mic by the charismatic Ms. Dynamite and Dread MC add the perfect finishing touch.
01:00 Shackleton (Woe to the Septic Heart/UK) Live Somewhere close to dubstep but with a nod to techno. The man behind Skull Disco and Woe to the Septic Heart smashes the dancefloor to bits with brutal bass, percussion and hypnotic dubby melodies.
04:30 Toddla T (UK) DJ
02:00 Redinho (UK) Live

Tom Calvert has managed to take his live show around a stack of European cities. A masterstroke that will be repeated with his new EP, 'Edge Off.' Talkbox-fuelled electro-funk with an irresistible human touch.
05:30 Tiga (Turbo/CA) DJ The man behind albums like 'Ciao!,' tracks like 'Sunglasses at Night' and a long list of remixes for top drawer artists such as The Human League has kept him on the crest of a seemingly endless wave for years. Sublime electro-house.
02:30 Spencer (UK) DJ At 17 years old he founded Numbers and he was also the man behind the Seismic nights and worked on Claude Young's legendary radio shows. Spencer's foolproof musical instinct has to be seen live.
SATURDAY 18 21:00 Doors open
Pearson Sound is one of the main contenders for the title of producer of the year in the UK bass arena. He remorselessly produces hits for other labels (Soul Jazz, 2nd Drop) as well as his own Hessle Audio hallmark.
22:00 Pffff (Razzmatazz/ES) DJ An apostle of the sleazy side of pop culture, this resident at Barcelona's Razzmatazz club is just as likely to play an obscure 80s movie soundtrack in his sets as whatever new heavy bass track the kids are creaming themselves over that week.
02:00 Katy B (Columbia/UK) Live Urban music with a UK hallmark has once again burst into the commercial arena with Katy B and her much talked-about debut LP, ‘On a Mission,’ on which her angelical voice pulls no punches in its treatment of R&B, funky, house and garage.
23:30 Yelle (Recreation Center/FR) Live The French girl who conquered half the known world with selfconfidence based on energetic, sassy and sexy electronic pop, returns with her new album 'Safari Disco Club' to add new hits milestones to a repertoire full of little gems of contemporary pop.
02:45 Annie Mac (IE) DJ At BBC Radio 1, this fiery Dubliner symbolises the official kick-off to the weekend. Off the airwaves, Annie Mac does not only play in the most renowned booths in the British Isles: she also is responsible for organising the showcases 'Annie Mac Presents,' which introduce her audience to new talents.
00:30 The Zombie Kids (Subterfuge/ES) DJ An energetic duo of DJs who have revolutionised the Spanish scene. Edgar and Jay have been the focus of popular acclaim, and combine the spirit of punk with zombie daring to create elastic sets with room for electro, hip-hop, punk, metal and a host of other party sounds.
01:15 Pearson Sound (UK) DJ
Numbers
03:15 Deadboy (UK) DJ From the heart of London, Deadboy has raised the flag for British dance music thanks to a highly personal mix of garage, house, funk, grime, R&B, rave and hits like 'If You Want Me.' 04:00 Jackmaster (UK) DJ
As well as being a cofounder of Numbers, the label on everyone's lips in the UK, Jackmaster is a genius on the decks. His mastery of the dancefloor and empathy with the crowd has been apparent at Sónar, Plastic People and Fabric.
04:45 Lory D (Numbers-SNS/
IT) Live After a few years' sabbatical, the architect of the Sounds Never Scene label has returned to the dancefloor with a stronger sound than ever. Proof that techno (on an acid tip and speeded up to hardcore levels) is still very much on the agenda.
05:30 Chelis
(Lo Fi Funk/ES) DJ This pioneer of the Aragonese scene has one of the most versatile cases in Spain, although he currently has a particular liking for everything bass: dubstep, skweee, UK funky and so on.
Schlachthofbronx
FRIDAY 17 21:00 Doors open 22:00 El Plan B de Carlos
Jean (Subterfuge/ES) DJ Carlos Jean's 'El Plan B' is a multimedia enterprise with a 2.0 philosophy. 23:45 Annie (NO) DJ Just a few months ago, this 100% Martian pop star reached number 2 on the iTunes electronic music charts. In her DJ sets, Annie says her influences range from Motown to disco, punk, and everything in between. 00:45 Bjørn Torske (NO) Live The man behind albums like 'Feil Knapp' and 'Kokning' has always been known for an original style that he himself christened skrangle-house: organic, acoustic sound, with a nod to electronic dub, odd disco and a touch of post-punk nuances.
Egyptrixx
Natura Sonoris presents
04:00 Sistema (ES) Live The latest incarnation of Manel Ruiz is the result of combining his darker influences, including Gothic rock and EBM. He is presenting his debut for Natura Sonoris at Sónar: pure rhythmic forcefulness and sonic density. 04:45 Henry Saiz (ES) DJ
Arandel
01:30 Rone (FR) Live Rone is a young Parisian DJ and producer who is an expert in the art of cinematic and experimental techno. In his live presentation, the man behind 'Spanish Breakfast' opens the floodgates of his world of thrillingly bleached-out melodies. Stroboscopic Artefacts presents
Both in production and on the decks, Saiz always adds an essential dose of melody to club rhythms in order to take us on a pleasurable journey from dance electronics to trance, stopping off at acid and funk, without any perceptible change of direction.
02:15 Lucy (IT) DJ His debut LP has been critically acclaimed, as everyone expected, although he is here tonight to show us how he operates as a DJ, a dimension of his work that his taken him to venues as varied as Berghain and Fabric.
06:00 Schlachthofbronx (Mad Decent/DE) DJ A live show plus decks and their own visuals, all by two men who have revolutionised the Munich scene using dancehall, dubstep, baile funk, bounce, cumbia, soca and traditional Bavarian music mixed with a sense of humour and a raver's spirit.

22:00 Aster (Hivern/ES) DJ 'Respect for the classics without veneration.' Their list of items worthy of veneration ranges from the purity of Detroit techno to the early days of acid house, electro and many other languages akin to their obsession with the synthetic and the danceable.
Russian Beats presents
Infiné presents
02:30 Mujuice (RU) Live Roma Litvinov splices together pieces of found sounds, electronic glitches and layers of acoustic material to create a dense matrix of melodies and ambiences that owe a debt to jazz, techno and Shostakovich.
23:30 Arandel (FR) Live Loyal to his principles, using only his analogue synths, Arandel pays homage to Krautrock and the New York minimalism school based on an organic, melodic and freewheeling musical approach.
03:15 DZA (RU) Live A DMC champion, expert producer and tireless promoter, the man behind DZA leapt straight from the Moscow underground to the Red Bull Music Academy and the MIDEM, taking his rough and ready, lopsided mutant hiphop around the world.
00:15 Clara Moto (AT) DJ Tech-house in a minimalist style, pop reminiscences, microdub and ambient merege in the productions and sessions on the decks by this Austrian enthusiast, who made a grand entrance on Infiné in 2007 with an acclaimed maxi entitled 'Glove Affair.'
