LETTERFROM THEEXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Here for people with autism. Here for families.
These were the simple words that guided former National Football League Champion Doug Flutie and his wife Laurie when they founded the Doug Flutie, Jr Foundation for Autism 24 years later, the Flutie Foundation is proud to have stuck to these simple, core values In doing so, the Foundation has grown well-beyond Doug and Laurie’s initial plans, and become a deeply impactful, trusted partner in the autism community.
At our core, the Flutie Foundation improves TODAY’s lives for people with autism across seven key pillars we all need to live each day fully. The Foundation helps provide a path for education and/or employment; opportunities for physical and social activity; and the tools to be safe, supported, and informed
Now, as the Foundation enters its 25th Anniversary year, the prevalence of autism across North America is increasing significantly With this comes an increase in the diverse and significant challenges people and families face in living with autism over a lifetime. Thankfully, through partnerships with autism-serving agencies, donors, and partners like you, the Flutie Foundation is uniquely poised to do its part to meet these ever-growing needs.
As we plan for the next 25 years, the Foundation will stick to its core values and programs, while also growing significantly in reach and impact Our mission-centric growth programs all elevate the voices of autism self-advocates and provide tools for them to live each day to the fullest Also, we are very excited about “STARS of The Spectrum”, our mission-centric 25th Anniversary Celebration at Fenway Park in Boston in July.
We hope that you will continue to partner with us in a meaningful way in 2023, so we can continue to dramatically change the lives of people and families affected by autism together.
Sincerely,
Nick Savarese Executive DirectorABOUTUS

OUR HISTORY
The Flutie Foundation was established in 1998 by former National Football League quarterback Doug Flutie and his wife, Laurie, whose personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired their passion to help other families. Autism is a neurological disorder that impacts the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction and communication skills Autism prevalence figures are growing - it affects 1 in 44 children. It is the fastest-growing developmental disability in North America and can cost a family $60,000 a year on average
