OUT OF TIME
I saw Time flowing like a hundred yachts That fly behind the daylight, foxed with air; Or piercing, like the quince-bright, bitter slats Of sun gone thrusting under Harbour’s hair. So Time, the wave, enfolds me in its bed, Or Time, the bony knife, it runs me through. ‘Skulker, take heart,’ I thought my own heart said. ‘The flood, the blade go by - Time flows, not you!’

Growing up as a surfer on the East Coast of Australian it is almost a natural response that Blake would develop a thirst for adventure. For now Blake lives out of London working as a teacher to fund his travels exploring the vast and ever-changing European Coastlines. Recently, he has spent his summer break help up in Portugal, basking in the warm sun and hunting the ever elusive warmwater European barrel. This series takes us on a journey through the intimate moments of Blake’s time abroad. Capturing an exciting creativeintimacy that can only be experienced through the spirit of adventure.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Alex Brunton is one of the raddest young creative individuals currently out there breaking chains. Or in Alex’s case, breaking water. Being brought up in a small, humble town on the East Coast of Australia it was inevitable that Alex would be raised up on a diet of appreciation for the ocean and all her great gifts. There must be something to say about a coastal upbringing, it seems to breed a natural evolution for creativity. Boy, my buddy Alex did not miss out on this at all! A natural born surfer, with a style that just oozes steeze, he then took to documenting the ocean, and recently over the last few years, has taken to shaping his own surfboards. Somehow always Alex manages to inject a contagious amount of creativity into every aspect of his life.

What seems to separate Alex from the rest of the pack is his ability to capture the emotion of an environment, a time, or even act. Oh yeah and he manages to do this across a number of different mediums.

Every time I go home and manage to catch up with the busy 'fella, I am just blown away from what he is producing, be it the surfboards he shapes or the images he captures. Everything that this great,
creative dude produces seems to be as a birth-child of both mother nature and joyfulness. This element of Alex's work is something that other creatives should look towards. Bloody hell, I sure know that what this guy is producing is just incredible. The ocean is one powerful being, she can evoke a lifetime of passion into an individual, this passion is something I see burned into the heart and eyes of my mate Alex.

BREEDING COMMON CREATIVITY
DYLAN SMYTH // 2HOURS NORTH Image: Joel Aston
Dylan Is a unique dude with an incredible passion for creativity and the community spirit. I had been introduced to him earlier this year and the project (2HOURS NORTH) he wanted to get running off the ground. The original concept was to form a collective of photographers from the Newcastle region of Australia and document the incredibly diverse city that we inhibit.
I'm not going to lie, when Dylan first pitched the idea to me I was a little skeptic. A little unsure of how this thing could get its' own voice in the local creative community. Man was I wrong, the more Dylan spoke to other creatives about his project, the faster and larger it grew. Not only Dylan's project grow with such speed, but what surprised me the most was the quality of creatives that wanted to get behind his cause.
