intro

I

’m so proud to present this season’s new list of books. Last year saw three of our picture books shortlisted for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. For a small independent publisher like us, this was incredible. I want to thank those talented librarians who voted for our books, and are doing a great job in difficult circumstances. I noticed the other day that the new £10 note has a portrait of Jane Austen and a wonderful quote: “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading”. As you can imagine, we at Nobrow and Flying Eye couldn’t agree more. It’s just a shame a few more of these notes aren’t finding their ways into the budgets of our local libraries and schools. Our books this season have been a joy to work on. With these beautiful new titles, we hope to help children make sense of themselves and the world around them. With sensitive and insightful stories, as well as exciting and illuminating non-fiction, we believe in the timeless appeal of great illustration and its power to bring ideas to life for all of our readers, young and old.
