We’ve talked a lot about the UK, now let’s talk about the people from the UK!
Culture and customs The UK really is a big mixture of many different cultures and customs! All four countries have their own very different ways and traditions. Many other groups have also chosen to move to the UK over the years, and they brought their own customs with them. The cultures of other European countries have influenced the UK too. Leonardo will tell you some interesting things about British culture: The normal greeting is a handshake, although hugs are now very common between friends. British people are often said to be quite reserved. This means they don’t show lots of emotions in public. This can make them seem pretty formal and dull at times! But they’re not really!

UK superstitions There are lots of superstitions in the UK! Leonardo will tell you about some of them. (Do you have any of these in your country?) Breaking a mirror brings seven years’ bad luck! Opening an umbrella inside is bad luck. So is walking under a ladder, spilling salt, and putting new shoes on a table! Lucky things include black cats, horseshoes (but only the right way up!), four-leafed clovers, and touching wood!
Try to take a picture of a black cat.
Do you know of any other UK superstitions?
