MEDIA RELEASE FMG chases another All Stars Championship.
FMG chases another All Stars Championship. Formula Motorsport drivers Chris and former series champion Paul Solomon have committed to run all rounds of the All Stars Series in 2013/4. The two car FMG Sprintcar team have been working hard throughout the winter rebuilding race cars and acquiring an inventory of spares. The team will have its first hit out at Heartland Raceway Moama (NSW) this weekend at round 1 of the Sprintcar Racing Association’s series on the November 2nd.
The Solomon Brothers have been involved with the All Stars series since its inception with Paul winning the Championship in 2008/9 under the tutelage of experienced crew chief Bill “Grizzly” Roberts. In more recent times Chris has won a number of series rounds as well as a Victorian 360 Sprintcar Championship and both Chris and Paul are excited about the season ahead and look forward to chasing the All Star series championship.
The following week it’s a down size change of motors and then off to Murray Bridge (SA) for round 1 of the All Stars series.
“We can’t wait for the season to start,” said big brother Paul. “The level of competition in the All Star series has grown incredibly over the past few years and we are both confident we can get some great results and with a bit of luck score another championship win.”
Originally, the team was looking to race in a number of open shows and only do a few All Star meetings however, with the greater interest by competitors and sponsors in the all Star Series in 2013/14, FMG have now committed to doing all rounds of the All Stars series and chasing the championship.
The FMG Sprintcar team will also be competing in the “Thunder On the Mountain” Sprintcar Series to be held at Redline Raceway Ballarat on February 1st and 15th and March 8th. This three round series sees Sprintcars return to the Ballarat based Speedway which is located in the foothills of Mount Buninyong.
“We won’t be holding back this season,” Said driver Chris Solomon while watching the Sprintcar action at Avalon last weekend. “We won’t be cautious in the open shows about damaging a car because there’s a series round the following week - we’ve got enough spares and if we do damage a car we’ve got all week to get it fixed. It takes a pretty big wreck to totally destroy a car.” Chris said with a laugh knowing that he tore a chassis in two in a previous event at Moama.
Also on the program this season at Redline Raceway is an open Sprintcar meeting to be held on April 12th. The “KING OF THE MOUNTAIN” Big 50 event will feature a final over 50 laps with a work/fuel stop between laps 20-30. Further details of this event will be available in the coming week.
The promoters at Redline Raceway (Belmont Speedway Drivers Club) were eager to get Sprintcars back to the venue this season and the club President, Mick Since the introduction of the 360 All Stars Purdie engaged the support of Rob Harris concept and then the establishment of the and Ray Solomon to make this happen, in addition, Mick has also rallied the clubs Association (All Stars Speedway Promomembers and sponsors to upgrade the fations Inc) in 2007, the Sprintcar All Star Series has developed into the pinnacle of cilities at the venue. 360 racing in Australia, and during that time FMG has supported the series with its drivers Paul and Chris Solomon.
