All That Hath Life and Breath

Invocation

Rene Clausen Rev. Mark Welshimer

*Greeting *Hymn Of Praise

Now Thank We All Our God Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices, Who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices; Who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way With countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.

O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; And keep us still in grace, and guide us when perplexed; And free us from all ills, in this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given; The Son, and him who reigns with them in highest heaven; The one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.

Mother’s Day Litany

Rev. Ann Spears Leader: Lord, on this special day set aside to honor our mothers, we give you thanks for mothers everywhere. Whether they are still with us today or have gone on to heaven, we are grateful that you chose to give us life through them, and we are humbled at the thought of the many sacrifices they made on our behalf. We thank you for the women who raised us in our childhood and loved us beyond measure and still love us today. Whether they are our birth mothers, adopted mothers, older sisters, aunts, grandmothers, stepmothers or other women you placed in our paths, we are grateful for the love they showed us, and the many lessons they taught us. Grant them joy and satisfaction for a job well done, and give them rest and peace as they trust you for the future. People: Lord, we thank you for the gift of motherhood. We thank you for the many examples of faithful mothers in Scripture like Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth and Lois. We are mindful this day of all these women, and especially Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, who had the courage to say yes to your calling. May all women gathered here today emulate these examples of faith and may they model for all the rest of us what it means to be your disciple. Bless all mothers on this special day, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer Response

Rev. Mark Welshimer/ Dr. Steve Wende With God’s help we will proclaim the good news and live according to the example of Christ. We will surround Keyon Jonathan Christopher Simmons and Laird Patrick Walker with a community of love and forgiveness that they may grow in their trust of God, and be found faithful in their service to others. We will pray for them that they may be true disciples who walk in the way that leads to life eternal.

*Benediction

I was there when you were but a child, with a faith to suit you well; In a blaze of light you wandered off to find where demons dwell. When you heard the wonder of the Word I was there to cheer you on; You were raised to praise the living Lord, to whom you now belong.

If you find someone to share your time and you join your hearts as one, I’ll be there to make your verses rhyme from dusk ‘till rising sun. In the middle ages of your life, not too old, no longer young, I’ll be there to guide you through the night, complete what I’ve begun.

* Please stand, as you are able.

When the evening gently closes in, and you shut your weary eyes, I’ll be there as I have always been with just one more surprise. I was there to hear your borning cry, I’ll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold.
