First Methodist Houston Honduras Water Well and Children’s Ministry August 18-25, 2014 MANNA Worldwide is a ministry that connects the North American Church to the needs of the world to show the love of Christ through acts of service. MANNA has 140 projects in 42 countries around the world. MANNA Water for Life provides water wells and purification systems for churches, feeding centers, and ministry outlets to raise of the quality of life here and introduce the Living Water for eternity. Itinerary Monday, August, 18: Meet at IHA Terminal E for flight to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Our host missionaries will pick us up and drive to El Centro de Amor y Vida (the Center of Love and Life), MANNA’s “Ronald McDonald house for children with cancer) in Tegucigalpa to bless the children there. Depending on where the drill site is located, we will secure clean, safe housing, get settled in, dinner, worship, and briefing for the week. Tuesday-Saturday, August 19-23: Breakfast, worship, devotions. The drill team and ministry groups will divide up and proceed to the projects. Lunch and ministry. Clean up, dinner, and celebrating God’s blessings for the day. Sunday, August 24: Breakfast, devotions. Worshipping in the Honduran churches. Monday, August 25: Breakfast, flight to Houston. Transportation Flight Info TBD In country, we will travel by 12-passenger vans. Once flight information has been decided, you may want to provide frequent flyer information. Housing/Meals TBD / All meals during the week will be provided. You will need money for four meals in Honduras and all meals in the airport. Cost: Approximately $1,500 per person includes transportation, lodging, most meals and emergency insurance. Cost does not include passport, immunizations, incidentals or souvenirs. You will need money for four meals in Guatemala, snacks in the airport and anything else you wish to purchase. Payment schedule Deposit (non-refundable) - $110 due immediately 2nd payment - $400 due April 1 3rd payment - $500 due June 1 Balance due - $500 due August 15 Money: You will need money for all meals in the airport and four meals in Honduras. Required documents  Registration Form  Online MANNA Registration and Mission Trip Packet (Application for a MANNA trip). $110 (nonrefundable required. The Registration Fee is part of the total cost of the trip).  Medical Release Form  Passport (MUST EXPIRE FEBRUARY 24, 2015 OR LATER. IF EXPIRATION DATE IS BEFORE FEB. 24, RENEW BEFORE DEPARTURE.) Emergency Insurance: You will be covered for international medical and emergency insurance.

First Methodist Houston Honduras Water Well and Children’s Ministry August 18-25, 2014 Suggestions for a Successful Trip  Begin praying for the trip and the people we will serve.  Be flexible and bring a positive attitude.  Active participation in small group Bible study and worship. Passport A passport is required for this trip. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry (if your passport expires in less than six months from the date of entry, it must be renewed before traveling). For information about applying for or renewing a passport, including required documents, fees and processing times, go online to www.travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html. Immunizations Talk to your physician and tell them where you will be traveling. The following are suggestions from the CDC. See your doctor 6-8 weeks before traveling.  Tetanus – required  Hepatitis A and B and malaria – recommended  Be sure your routine vaccinations are up to date. Routine vaccines, as they are often called, such as for influenza, chickenpox, polio, measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) and diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT) are given at all stages of life. Luggage requirements Remember to pack light. The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag (length + width + height). Each traveler is allowed one checked bag at 62in/157cm. Maximum weight – 40 lbs and one carry on/personal item.

*Please pack your personal items in a carry on and use your checked bag as a supply bag for the team.* Packing list  Bible, pen and journal Clothing All clothing should be modest in fit and any graphics on t-shirts, etc as a testimony to the Honduran people we are serving.  For those involved in drilling, it will be very muddy and dirty: old jeans, t-shirts, water resistant boots.  t-shirts, jeans  comfortable clothes for off time (modest shorts are fine for non-ministry times)  skirt/blouse/dress (women) or collared shirt, khakis (men) for church  socks and underwear  jacket/sweatshirt  pajamas  shower shoes  If you are sensitive to the sun, a broad-brimmed hat is helpful, sun-screen.

First Methodist Houston Honduras Water Well and Children’s Ministry August 18-25, 2014 Personal Items  Towels/washcloths  Rain gear  Sunglasses/sunscreen/hat  Toiletries  Tissues  Medicine in prescription bottle/box (anti-diarrhea)  OTC: Chewable Pepto-Bismol, Imodium, Tums, Tylenol, sinus/cold medicine, antihistamine  Antibacterial wipes/hand sanitizer  Aloe vera gel, lotion is very good for sunburn.  Small first-aid kit  1 roll of toilet paper or individual packs of tissues  Bug repellant  Water bottle  Ear plugs (roosters crow all hours of the night!)  Camera and batteries  Flashlight  Backpack/day pack/hip pack  Snack food (individually packaged, if desired) Be sure to pack a change of clothes in your carry on luggage in case checked luggage is delayed or lost. I am writing to tell you a little about what has been happening in my life and the opportunity I have for this summer. This fall, ___date_____, I will be traveling with a mission team from my church, First Methodist Church in Houston, Texas to Honduras on a short-term mission trip. My team will be drilling a water well, distributing water filtration systems, serving children in feeding centers and more. The cost of the trip is $1,500.
