Seguin, Texas has many places to visit with one thing in common - they each have a story to tell from historic homes, the state’s oldest licensed bar to one of the world’s largest nutcracker collections and museums – you will hear their fascinating tale when we visit on Wednesday, September 10. 8 a.m. Leave from Downtown Lobby via County Precinct 1 Bus. 10:30 a.m. Arrive in Seguin – meet docent to begin tour. 10:45 a.m. Sebastopol House Historic Site and Wilson Pottery Museum Explore this Greek Revival “limecrete” mansion built in 1856 by skilled slaves. Discover the secret dungeon’s possible uses and how the living quarters were “cooled” during hot Texas summers. View Wilson Pottery artifacts, one of the first post-Civil War businesses in Texas owned by freed slaves. 12 - 1 p.m. Lunch Time! Enjoy a delicious meal at the Dixie Grille (at your own expense). 1:15 p.m. Heritage Village Narration and viewing of some of the “first” buildings of Seguin: Los Nogales Museum, Texas’ oldest Standing Protestant Church, Campbell-Hoermann Log Cabin, Calaboose (wheeled jailhouse) and Dietz Doll House.
1:45 p.m. Go Nuts at the Pape Pecan House Nutcracker Museum See one of the world’s largest collections of more than 8,000 nutcrackers in all different shapes and sizes. 2:45 p.m. Depart for home.
