Founded in 1968, Southeast Tech, an openaccess college, remains steadfast in its mission to prepare a skilled workforce for the region, offering certificates, diplomas and associate degrees. STC partners with industry leaders, the city of Sioux Falls, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, McCrossan Boys Ranch, Teachwell Solutions and more to provide pathway options for high school students.
With about 500 industry leaders representing nearly 300 companies on more than 30 academic advisory boards, Southeast Tech taps this expertise pool to ensure excellence in program and curriculum development. As a result, graduates, in any given year, enjoy a 97- 99% job placement rate.
Southeast Tech serves a diverse student body reflective of the region. Traditional students, transfer students and working adults looking to increase their skillset, recareer or obtain their first college degree choose STC to get a hands-on education in skills-relevant facilities taught by instructors with real-world experience.
Furthermore, faculty and staff know, support and empower students. Under the umbrella of the Student Success Center, free services include tutoring and academic support, accessibility services and personal and career counseling. In addition, on-campus housing, a childcare center and resources for military personnel and veterans are available along with ample student clubs, intramurals and academic organizations that all contribute to students’ sense of belonging.
With a low price point compared to most institutions of higher education, Southeast Tech graduates’ return on investment is high. Additionally, the college awards $2.5 million in scholarships annually, including 100 or more full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships.
