RoadOne acquires The JZ Expedited Companies

Laura Street Trio developer SouthEast Development Group LLC released its latest designs for a two-phase redevelopment of the Downtown property. The renderings and site plan for the estimated $70.4 million first phase of the project likely will go before the Downtown Development Review Board for conceptual review in March, Southern Group lobbyist and SouthEast Development representative Matt Brockelman said Jan. 21. The designs show the restored former Florida Life, Bisbee and Marble Bank buildings at 51 W. Forsyth St. Those historic structures comprise the Trio. Atkins Southeast Managing Director Steve Atkins plans a 145-room Marriott hotel with a full-service restaurant and bar, a 4,000-square-foot boutique grocery store and an additional 4,000 square feet of retail space at the Trio. Atkins said Dec. 14 that Marriott is reviewing the adaptive reuse project as a candidate for its Autograph Collection of hotels. Atkins purchased a Marriott franchise in 2014 and Brockelman said the hotel will be run by third-party operator Winegardner & Hammons Hotel Group LLC, based in Cincinnati. RoadOne IntermodaLogistics registered the JZI IntermodaLogistics name with the state Jan. 21, indicating it has taken an ownership interest in The JZ Expedited Companies. To the founder’s satisfaction, the name continues to reflect his children. “I am glad to see that the initials of my kids will forever live on with the JZI branding,” said Robert Fox, who founded JZ Expedited from his kitchen table in 2009 and named it for his sons, Josh and Zach. Fox remarried five years ago and adopted his wife’s daughter, Ivanna. When he started JZI Global Supply Chain Management, he named it JZI to include her. JZI IntermodaLogistics is based in North Jacksonville at 1111 Imeson Park Blvd., the headquarters of The JZ Expedited Companies. RTS Holdings LLC is listed as the owner. Its address is that of RoadOne IntermodaLogistics at One Kellaway Drive in Randolph, Massachusetts. Fox said Jan. 24 the holding

Edward Waters College partners with Propel Center Edward Waters College announced a partnership with Propel Center, a global campus headquartered in Atlanta, that will support innovative learning and career development programming for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The nonprofit Propel Center is designed to connect students to a technology curriculum, cultural thought leaders, entrepreneurship skills development and accelerator programs, with a focus on social justice and equity.
