Buc-ee’s will open its first Florida travel center at 6 a.m. Feb. 22 in St. Augustine, the company announced Feb. 11. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. that day. The 104-pump, 52,600-squarefoot gas station and convenience store is at 200 World Commerce Parkway near World Golf Village off Interstate 95. Buc-ee’s will employ 200 fulltime employees with full benefits, a 401(k) and three weeks of vacation. “Picking St. Augustine for our first Florida location made sense for many reasons, but its proximity to our other locations across the South was our initial motivator. Location aside, our owners fell in love with the rich history and warm hospitality of St. Augustine,” said Stan Beard Buc-ee’s director of real estate,

Mayo Clinic building-out research space in Mangurian The city issued a permit Feb. 8 for an almost $7.4 million build-out for Mayo Clinic in the Mangurian Building at Mayo’s South Jacksonville campus. “This project is to support the need for more space for our research efforts. The first phase of this project will allow space for our neuroscience research teams while the second phase is not yet defined,” said spokesman Kevin Punsky. He said construction should be completed by November. The Robins & Morton Group of Orlando is the contractor for the 38,720-square-foot project on the fifth floor of the building on Mayo’s campus at 4500 San Pablo Road S.
