Sixth and seventh Walmart Health clinics are in review for Northeast Florida, the number of centers the retailer said it would open in the area. Walmart Health offers primary care, urgent care, dental and lab services, imaging, counseling, and optical and hearing services. Plans show the city is reviewing permit applications for construction of clinics in the Supercenters at 12100 Lem Turner Road in Northwest Jacksonville and at 10991 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin. Applications show the construction costs of each at $350,000. Walmart Real Estate Business Trust is listed as the owner of the properties. Massa Multimedia Architecture of Neptune, New Jersey, is shown as the architect for both. The City Council Finance Committee unanimously approved a bill April 6 authorizing a $820,000 Recapture Enhanced Value Grant for the proposed $14.545 million apartment redevelopment of the former FBI Building in Arlington. Ordinance 2021-0159 heads to the full Council for a final vote April 13. Developer Theotokos Holdings LLC wants to convert the vacant office building at 7820 Arlington Expressway into 118
market-rate housing units, according to a project summary filed with the bill. City Office of Economic Development Executive Director Wendland Kirk Wendland told the committee April 6 that the building has been empty since 2009 when the FBI relocated operations to Gate Parkway. The 95,000-square-foot structure was built in 1975 along with two other office buildings to serve as the Westinghouse
Concealment Express design action is deferred The April 8 Downtown Development Review Board’s conceptual design review for handgun accessory retailer Concealment Express LLC’s Southbank headquarters and showroom was deferred. Concealment Express wants to renovate a two-story brick and stucco building at 1451 Louisa St. The attorney for the company said the company is working with the city after Downtown Investment Authority staff recommended the DDRB deny conceptual approval because a proposed 32-foot vertical feature with an attached sign is not in proportion with the building.
