Rise: A Real Estate Co. executives, city officials and others gathered April 20 Downtown as demolition crews began to tear down the remains of the George Doro Fixture Co. building. Crews started demolition on the Doro block at 128 A. Philip
Randolph Blvd. on March 29 to clear the property for Rise’s $65.64 million, 247-unit apartment Blais building with ground-level retail and rooftop amenities. Valdosta, Georgia-based Rise executives and dignitaries also gathered for a party at neighboring 121 Financial Ballpark for what the company called “The Doro Demo Day.” Rise President Greg Blais said SEE DORO, PAGE 3

Aventon Companies LLC announced April 20 it bought 18.86 acres in North Jacksonville for a proposed $52 million, 324unit apartment community called Aventon Sorraia. The company paid $4.25 million for the property at 13163 Ranch Road on April 15, according to the deed recorded April 20 with the Duval County Clerk of Courts. Raleigh, North Carolina-based Aventon bought the land through Jax North Apartment Owner LLC from Blue Sky JAXAP LLC, according to the deed. A company news release Hedrick described the development as 12 three-story, “modern farmhouse-style buildings” with one-, two- and threebedroom apartments. Burk Hedrick, Aventon Companies vice president of development, said in the release the project will fill an “underserved need for upscale apartment living” near Jacksonville International Airport. “Aventon Sorraia will provide a unique living experience and be positioned to complement the ongoing employment growth surrounding the Jacksonville International Airport and River City shopping district,” he said. Faropoint buys Westside property for $1.45 million The Jacksonville-based NAI Hallmark commercial real estate brokerage and property management firm announced it represented Faropoint in the $1.45 million purchase of a 24,000-square-foot industrial distribution facility at 6959 Stuart Ave. Senior Vice President Daniel Burkhardt and Vice President Jason Purdy represented Faropoint in the acquisition of the Westside property, which is near Interstate 95 and I-10. Larry Walshaw of KW Commercial represented JRVJ, the seller. The facility is occupied by Acousti Engineering of Florida.
