Florida Coastal School of Law disputes the findings released May 13 by the office of Federal Student Aid in the U.S. Department of Education denying the school’s reinstatement into the loan program. The school’s dean says the decision not to reinstate Florida Coastal in the federal student loan
program is a mistake and it will appeal the denial, according to a statement released May 14 by the law school. “I was perplexed by the ED’s decisions and disagree on many points they made in the letter and press release,” said Peter Goplerud, Florida Coastal president and dean, in the release.

The bidding will start June 14 at $7 million for the Downtown Southbank structure. BY MARK BASCH CONTRIBUTING WRITER
The former Stein Mart building at 1200 Riverplace Blvd. on Jacksonville’s Southbank is going up for sale via auction. The 10-story, 200,627-square-foot building, with a sixstory adjacent parking garage, is scheduled for auction June 14-16 by Newmark Phoenix Realty Group and online commercial real estate exchange company Ten-X. An affiliate of Virginia-based Lingerfelt Commonwealth Partners bought the property, built in 1985, for $23.625 million in 2016, according to Duval County records. A listing for the auction by Ten-X said starting bids for the building will be $7 million. County records show the property is assessed at $16.7 million for tax purposes. Jacksonville-based fashion retailer Stein Mart Inc. had its headquarters in the building, but the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year and went out of business, vacating its offices. The Stein Mart name was removed in November. The Ten-X listing said the building is 40.28% occupied. The listing describes it as a “trophy asset with significant upside” and a “unique opportunity for owner occupants.”
