The East Park Business Park in South Jacksonville has a new tenant – the U.S Navy. The Navy is preparing a 50,000-squarefoot shell tenant space for a training facility at 11660 Central Parkway at a cost of almost $16.4 million. The city is reviewing the permit application for an MMSC – Multi-Mission Surface

Combatants – vocational and training facility. The Navy said June 7 the location will be used to provide training facilities and administrative space for electronic ship operator and maintenance training to about 300 military students as part of a U.S. Foreign Military Sales case. It said it chose the location because it was large enough to provide the required office space with desks, chairs and computer workstations to accommodate the Multi-Mission Surface Combatants training mission and associated administrative spaces. First Coast Energy L.L.P., parent company of the Daily’s convenience store chain, intends to renovate and move into a new Southside headquarters by the end of 2022. The company paid $3.025 million May 14 for a 37,850-squarefoot single-story Southpoint building at 6867 Southpoint Drive N. Developed in 1991, it sits on a 4.8-acre site. Director of Marketing Max Glober said June 4 the space is larger than its existing location of 23 years while remaining in the same general area. It allows space for a commissary kitchen for First Coast Energy to develop and test concepts for its Daily’s Dash food service and for warehouse space. “We decided to buy that building because it is centrally located,” Glober said. “We like sticking to the Southpoint area,” he said, referring to the Interstate 95 and Butler Boulevard intersection. Glober said the company has been leasing its current 22,500-square-foot space, which has office, warehouse and some kitchen functions, since 1998 at 7014 A.C. Skinner Parkway, No. 290, in Liberty Business Park. First Coast Energy bought the Southpoint building from South State Bank, a successor by merger to CenterState Bank. CenterState assumed the property in a deed in lieu of foreclosure in March 2020. “We are going to be having SEE NEW HQ, PAGE 2

Chase Properties buys 6 acres in St. Johns County Chase Properties Inc. paid $1.55 million for 6 acres in St. Augustine that previously was designed for a commercial and retail center. Jacksonville-based Chase bought the property May 24 from Atlanta-based Opus Group LLC. The property addresses for the five parcels include 1490-1498 Florida 207, at northeast Florida 207 and Hilltop Road. A previous commercial site plan shows six buildings totaling almost 50,000 square feet of space. Chase Properties President, CEO and Principal Michael Balanky said the development plans are subject to change. “We bought the site from the previous owner based on the explosive growth in the 207 corridor,” Balanky said.
