City issues permits for new Fidelity headquarters

Sandy Yawn, the yacht captain and star of the Bravo reality TV series “Below Deck Mediterranean,” plans to open a restaurant with a rooftop bar in the LaVilla area of Downtown Jacksonville. Yawn bought the two-story, 7,600-squarefo o t commercial building June 7 on 0.01 acres at 618 W. Adams St. Property records show Yawn the structure, southwest of the Duval County Courthouse, was built in 1914. “There’s going to be three (floors): the rooftop lounge, the second floor, which will be a private club, and then the first floor, which will be an open restaurant,” Yawn told Jacksonville Daily Record news partner News4Jax. com on June 12. Yawn posted on Twitter on June 11 that she bought the former firehouse with plans for a restaurant and details and a name to follow. She captioned a post of a picture of herself in front of the building “SOLD! Working on the details and plans for my new project in JAX. Need a name for the restaurant & rooftop bar. The Fidelity National Information Services Inc. headquarters project is good to go along Riverside Avenue in Brooklyn. The city issued permits June 24 for Gilbane Building Co. of Jacksonville to start construction on the FIS riverfront headquarters and parking garage at 347 Riverside Ave. Gilbane will build the foundation and structure for the 12-story office building and eight-level garage. The total project job cost is listed at $145 million. The Jacksonville-based financial services technology company is building the foundations and structures of its 376,414-square-foot headquarters office tower and 552,693-square-foot parking garage with 1,647 parking spaces on 4.5 acres. An air-conditioned garage elevator lobby will connect to the office tower on the first and second levels. SEE MATHIS, PAGE 2

Aldi redeveloping Philips and Emerson site Aldi Inc. will transform the closed Wells Fargo bank branch property at northwest Philips Highway and Emerson Street near San Marco into a discount grocery store. The city issued two permits June 15 for Schmid Construction Inc. of Clermont to demolish the bank building at 3650 Philips Highway and construct a grocery store at a cost totaling $2 million. Permits show Aldi will build a 21,720-square-foot grocery store. Land and construction costs total $3.8 million. Aldi’s Haines City division is developing the site.
