The grocery chain plans to introduce a larger wine and spirits format near San Marco.
Winn-Dixie opened its new liquor store prototype June 30 that was carved out from its newly remodeled supermarket at Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road. “We think that’ll be something that the customers will really love to shop and enjoy here at the store,” Southeastern Grocers District Manager Greg Stanford said at the introduction of the renovated supermarket and the liquor store. Winn-Dixie is part of Southeastern Grocers. The city issued permits April 27 for Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers to renovate the Winn-Dixie supermarket at 11380 Beach Blvd. and build-out space within it for a separate liquor store. Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. was the contractor for the $630,000 project in Town Center Village. The project comprised a $450,000 renovation of the 40,685-square-foot store and a SEE MATHIS, PAGE 2

Jacksonville University is expanding its curriculum with a doctorate program in health care leadership. The Doctor of Business Administration in health care leadership is a partnership between the university’s Davis College of Business and Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences. The program is designed to prepare business leaders to approach problems in new ways with high-level training in real-world research and analysis within the health care industry. “The Davis College of Business is thrilled to collaborate with the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences to bring students a distinguished and highly dynamic degree that will successfully launch them into today’s marketplace,” Barbara Ritter, dean of the Davis College of Business, said in a news release. Growth in the health care field has led to an increased need for medical personnel and qualified administrators, the release states. “The synergy between our Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences and our Davis College of Business will produce graduates in the program who are innovative, ethical thought leaders committed to healthcare improvement in their communities and at the global level,” said Teri Chenot, departSEE JU, PAGE 2
Allegiant to offer service to Nashville, Washington, D.C. Allegiant Airlines announced June 29 it will offer nonstop service from Jacksonville International Airport to Nashville and Washington, D.C., in the fall. Service to Nashville International Airport begins Nov. 18 and flights to Dulles International Airport start Nov. 19. Flights to Nashville will be available Thursdays and Sundays. Flights to Washington are Fridays and Mondays. Introductory fares start at $39. Allegiant Airlines provides seasonal and yearround service to seven airports from Jacksonville.
