The Downtown Investment Authority assessment envisions a REV grant and other assistance for the project as public review is set to begin.
Atlanta developer Jeff Fuqua proposes to start construction in 2022 on the proposed $151.61 million retail, residential and park redevelopment at 1 Riverside Ave. in Brooklyn. The project, in two phases, would be completed in 2026. A Downtown Investment Authority Project Profile Assessment explains more details for Fuqua Development LP’s plans to buy and redevelop the 18.8-acre former campus of The Florida Times-Union on the Northbank of the St. Johns River. The land is owned by the Morris family of Augusta, Georgia. Conceptual plans for the first phase of redevelopment at The Florida Times-Union property show a 38,750-square-foot grocer, 6,500 square feet of retail space, 266 apartments and a total of 615 parking spaces. The second phase adds 15,000 square feet of retail space, 125 apartments and additional parking. Construction would begin in 2022 and be completed in 2026.

The Bread & Board Downtown to open The Bread & Board will open its new Downtown restaurant at 100 W. Bay St. on Aug. 15. The Bread & Board offers made-to-order sandwiches, sandwich boards, salads and entrees. The Downtown restaurant will have a specialty cocktail menu, a full-service dining option and expanded hours. It also will offer grab-and-go items. The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. MondayThursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Also opening is The Bread & Board Provisions, a store offering items from local vendors. The Bread & Board closed its location in Five Points on Aug. 8.
