Construction of the first portion of the 30-mile Emerald Trail series of parks is underway. The 1.3-mile LaVilla Link will connect the Brooklyn and LaVilla neighborhoods in Downtown Jacksonville to the S-Line Rail Trail in the Railyard District, which starts along Myrtle Avenue. The LaVilla Link will include Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park, the Florida C. Dwight Memorial Play-
ground and several historic landmarks. The next portion of the trail will be constructed along Hogan Street. When completed, the trail will connect 14 urban neighborhoods to Downtown, the St. Johns River, McCoys Creek and Hogans Creek, along with schools, colleges, parks, restaurants and retail destinations. The sister restaurant to Flying Iguana will offer Latin American fusion cuisine at 3638 Park St.
Iguana on Park announced on its Facebook page that it will open Aug. 30 at 3638 Park St. in South Avondale. Featuring Latin American fusion cuisine, Iguana on Park is a sister restaurant to Flying Iguana, which opened in 2013 in Neptune Beach. It will serve tacos, entrees, spirits and cocktails and offer live music. It says Mansur it will serve more than 100 tequilas and a selection of local craft brews. The lunch and dinner menu includes starters like chorizo and potato empanadas; ceviche; soups and salads; tortas; tacos; and desserts. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Jacksonville restaurateur Al Mansur owns the restaurants. For Iguana on Park, he renovated the former South Kitchen & Spirits building to include exterior and interior finishes. PS27 Foundation honors Kesler PS27 Foundation Chairman Jim Stallings presented the 2021 PS27 Entrepreneur Award, its first, to Delores Kesler. “Delores Kesler is an extraordinarily successful entrepreneur and founder of multiple companies who has lived the journey of the PS27 motto: ‘Think Big, start small,’” said a PS27 news release Aug. 24. Kesler started ATS Services, now a part of Adecco, in 1978 when there were few female business leaders. When she retired as its chairman in 1998, the company reported annual revenue of more than $2 billion.
