The Downtown building, built in 1902 as a residence, will be converted into office, restaurant and retail space in two phases.
The city is reviewing a permit application for River City Contractors to make exterior renovations to the Porter House Mansion at 510 N. Julia St. Downtown at a project cost of $284,990. Called Phase 2, the project includes entry concrete and masonry, a steel staircase and handrails, siding, finishes, chairlift equipment and electrical, fire alarm, HVAC and mechanical work. The city approved a permit Feb. 19 for Phase 1 interior work at $200,100. The two phases total about $485,000. That Phase 1 project included ADA and restroom renovations, interior demolition, carpentry, doors, hardware, trim, finishes and electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and sprinkler work. Walmart registered fictitious names for the seven Walmart Health centers that it intends to open in Northeast Florida. Walmart has not announced opening dates. Walmart Health offers primary care, urgent care, dental and lab services, imaging, counseling, and optical and hearing services. The Bentonville, Arkansasbased retailer filed the names for Walmart Health at six Jacksonville Supercenters and for one in Clay County at 1588 Branan Field Drive in Middleburg. The six Duval locations are: 6830 Normandy Blvd. in West Jacksonville. 7075 Collins Road in Southwest Jacksonville. 12100 Lem Turner Road in Northwest Jacksonville. 4250 Philips Highway in the Englewood area of South Jacksonville. 11900 Atlantic Blvd. in East Arlington/Sandalwood. 10991 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin. Walmart filed the fictitious names with the state Division of Corporations Aug. 5, 6 and 10. The owner of the fictitious names is shown as MC Medical of GA LLC, based at Walmart’s headquarters. Registration of a fictitious name informs the public which individual or business entity is transacting business under a particular name. Kayak launch OK’d for The Markets at Town Center The city issued a permit for The Markets at Town Center to add a kayak launch at the pond behind REI – Recreational Equipment Inc. The project costs total $356,562, permits show. FB Andrews Contracting LLC of Jacksonville is the contractor for the $172,000 project to build the dock at 4871 Town Center Parkway. The city issued a permit July 26 for FB Andrews to handle the horizontal development at a project cost of $184,562. Hines Global REIT 4875 Town Center LLC is the property owner. Halff Associates Inc. is the civil engineer. The project includes an aluminum gangway and floating dock.
