Regions Bank is seeking Downtown Development Review Board approval for rooftop signage and three projecting signs at its 51 W. Bay St. headquarters. The projecting signs are for the Bay and Laura street corners of the building. Each is 12 feet tall by 3 feet wide,

according to DDRB meeting documents released Sept. 3. The rooftop sign facing Bay Street is 30 feet wide by 5 feet tall. Downtown Investment Authority staff recommends the DDRB approve the signs, stating that they are consistent with nearby and historic Downtown signage. “The placement of the projecting signs is respectful to the architectural details of the building,” the DIA staff report says. “The roof sign is placed facing the Bay Street frontage and does not distract SEE REGIONS, PAGE 2

G r u m p y ’s R e s t a u ra n t announced Sept. 2 its second franchisee, Leah and Justin Milliken, will open a location in the Fountains at St. Johns on County Road 210 in St. Johns County. The restaurant announced its first franchise for its Middleburg restaurant in August. It plans to open in October at 1805 Blanding Blvd., Suite 107, in Clay County. Grumpy’s President and CEO Daniel DeLeon said in a news release he did not initially intend to franchise two restaurants, but found a good fit to run both locations. “The pandemic allowed us to step up in our community in ways we had never done before,” DeLeon said. “People resonate with our values and this has drawn in franchisees who embody the Grumpy’s culture. Firehouse opens ‘restaurant of the future’ in Palatka Jacksonville-based Firehouse Subs opened its first restaurant – designed as a modified “restaurant of the future” prototype – in Palatka in Putnam County. Vice President Meg Rose said the company searched for more than five years “for the right location to place a Firehouse Subs in Palatka.” The store will include a drive-thru, a slightly different layout and a larger outdoor seating space.
