Florida bars allowed to reopen at 50% occupancy Harbor Tavern’s lead bartender Deborah Geier said she and her co-workers are getting ready to reopen the bar Sept. 14. “We’re very much looking forward to getting back in the saddle and going on with the new restrictions,” Geier said Sept. 11. The Atlantic Beach bar has been open for only one week since March 25, she said. The Department of Business and Professional Regulations announced Sept. 10 bars could reopen at 50% capacity. After briefly reopening, bars were shut down June 26 because of widespread noncompliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Many bars in Jacksonville have already reopened by serving food.
