Fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant operator Cava Group is converting some of its Zoës Kitchen stores into its CAVA Grill concept and it appears that at least two of the five Jacksonville area locations are involved. The city is reviewing preliminary plans for Cava Group to renovate the Zoës Kitchens in Brooklyn Station on Riverside and at St. Johns Town Center. Washington, D.C.-based Cava Group bought Plano, Texasbased Zoës in late 2018. The concepts are similar. Zoës offers a Mediterraneanthemed menu that includes hummus, falafel, salads, soups, pitas, kabobs, plates, bowls and sandwiches. CAVA Grill features a buildyou-own line for diners to choose among bases, dips and spreads, proteins and toppings, including lamb meatballs, roasted vegetables and grilled chicken. Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital is planning a 53,000-squarefoot in-patient hospital in Tamaya, according to plans submitted to the city. The facility will be on 5.18 acres at northeast Kernan and Beach boulevards. Tamaya Loan Acquisition LLC owns the parcel. It is adjacent to Grand Living at Tamaya, an independent living, assisted living and memory care facility. Nomis Rehabilitation Partners, which manages Reunion Rehabilitation facilities, lists a Jacksonville location on its website. It is the first for the hospital in Florida. Reunion Rehabilitation operates two locations in Dublin, Ohio and Denver, Colorado. Nomis’ website shows five Reunion locations coming soon. Representatives from Nomis and Reunion did not respond to a request for comment. Plans show a three-story, 53,000-square-foot building, a parking lot and space for a 12,000-square-foot future expansion. Reunion’s website says it treats patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple trauma, neurological injury and amputation.

Tru by Hilton hotel building near Southpoint Tru by Hilton is adding a hotel in the Bowden area near Southpoint in South Jacksonville. The city issued a permit Sept. 7 for AJ’s Development Enterprises to build the four-story, 45,147-square-foot hotel at 4945 Lenoir Ave. at a cost of $6 million. The city previously calculated a mobility fee of $80,640 for a proposed 98-room Tru by Hilton hotel at the site. The development includes a pool. Dhimant Soni of Lake City is the developer. He is manager of OMSHIV JAX LLC. William E. Tully III Inc. is the civil engineer. It would be the city’s third Tru by Hilton hotel.
