SouthEast Development Group LLC Principal Steve Atkins said he hopes to break ground on the multifamily second phase of the Laura Street Trio before renovations of the existing Downtown historic buildings are completed. During a presentation Sept. 17 to

the JAX Chamber Downtown Council, Atkins showed a rendering of the property as viewed from Adams Street. It shows a driveway or circular pedestrian walkway, for the Trio’s 145-room Marriott Autograph Hotel and a second phase multifamily tower. Publix shown as anchor for Westside shopping center

The supermarket chain would be the lead tenant on a 19-acre site at Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road. Publix Super Markets Inc. could anchor a new Westside shopping center planned at northwest Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road, near Cecil Commerce Center. The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing an application for the 19.35-acre project designed for a 46,791-square-foot Publix and another 9,800-square-foot building of retail shops. Plans also show two outparcels of 1.46 and 2.05 acres for up to 5,000-square-foot singletenant buildings on each. Wagner Property Group LLC of Tampa is shown as the developer. Bohler Engineering of Boca Raton is the civil engineer. Publix Community Relations Manager Chris Norberg said Sept. 23 by email that the company could not comment because the lease has not been fully executed. VyStar hires human resources chief VyStar Credit Union announced Sept. 21 it hired former KeyBank executive Kawanza Humphrey as chief human resources officer. Humphrey will oversee the Jacksonville-based nonprofit financial institution’s more than 2,000 employees. Her duties include coordinating the credit union’s diversity, equity and inclusion; talent acquisition; employee relations; benefits; and compensation, VyStar said in a news release. VyStar said Humphrey has 20 years of banking industry experience and was Cleveland-based KeyBank’s senior vice president of corporate responsibility for the Eastern region.
