Gilmore Hagan Partners and The Southern Group have combined their economic development and government relations firms. The move means The Southern Group’s Jacksonville office is expanding from two lobbyists to five. “For more than 20 years, The Southern Group has been at the tip of the spear of Florida government relations,” The Southern Group founder and Chairman Paul Bradshaw said in a news release. “Our innovative approach to local and state lobbying has enabled us to become the Sunshine State’s largest influence firm. This momentum is something we are constantly looking to build upon, and the addition of the Gilmore Hagan team in Jacksonville does just that,” he said. Jacksonville lobbyists Jim Gilmore and Chris Hagan founded Gilmore Hagan Partners. For more than 30 years, Gilmore has been part of public-private partnerships in the region including the creation of Cecil Commerce Center and the Jacksonville International Airport Community Redevelopment Area. Hagan formerly led government affairs for the Northeast Florida Builders Association and was regional government affairs manager for Advanced Disposal. “Northeast Florida is a dynamic region with a wide range of opportunities for the public and private sectors to collaborate. Miami-based Related Group is the company behind a proposal to demolish and redevelop the River City Brewing Co. restaurant on the Downtown Southbank.
The Downtown Investment Authority provided a draft project report and term sheet Oct. 2 that shows restaurant parent company Maritime Concepts entered a contract with Related Group to sell its interest in the property and buy out the remaining 77 years in its long-term lease with the city. Related Group signed the contract though RD River City Brewery LLC, according to the DIA report. The result could be a $92.32 million development with a 335-unit apartment building. Regions seeks signage approval Regions Bank representatives have asked the Downtown Development Review Board to approve a special sign exception for a new rooftop and projecting signs for its 51 W. Bay St. headquarters. The bank reduced the proposed size of the rooftop sign by 59.32 square feet after a Sept. 10 workshop where several DDRB members called it out of scale. The bank also changed the rooftop sign design to a wire mesh holding the Regions logo. DDRB staff has recommended approval. The board will vote on the changes Oct. 8.
