Northeast Florida’s second Whole Foods Market opened at 7 a.m. Oct. 7 at Pablo Plaza in Jacksonville Beach. The 40,000-square-foot natural and organic specialty grocer at 2050 S. The Jacksonville Beach store offers a sushi and wok station, a full-service butcher and seafood counters, an inhouse bakery and more than 800 local products. City reviewing permits for construction of The Doro The mixed-used development comprises apartments, retail, a parking garage and a rooftop bar and pool. Developer Rise: A Real Estate Company applied for building permits for The Doro Downtown that show a construction cost of $46 million for the apartment and retail project and parking garage. It also will create space for a ground-floor restaurant and a rooftop bar with views of the river, Downtown and TIAA Bank Field and surrounding development. “We believe the restaurant will also lease the rooftop space as well. It will be a bar,” said Matthew Marshall, Rise vice president of development, Oct. 6. “The rooftop bar will have a private elevator service as well,” he said. Through Jacksonville Properties I LLC, Rise wants to develop the 247-unit, five-story woodframe project over a two-story podium of development. St. Johns incentives OK’d for Encompass Health The St. Johns County Commission on Oct. 6 unanimously approved incentives for one of Encompass Health’s two planned rehabilitation hospitals in Northeast Florida. Encompass will build a 47,700-square-foot, 40-bed rehabilitation hospital at northwest Silver Lane and Florida 207 in St. Augustine. It will be operational by the first quarter of 2022, according to a St. Johns County Economic Development memo. Construction is expected to begin early next year. Encompass plans to hire about 100 workers and add jobs as operations expand.
