Permits requested for Publix-anchored East San Marco

It’s a big step for a long-awaited project. Developer Regency Centers Corp. applied for construction permits Oct. 16 for the East San Marco retail center that will be anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc. “Our commitment to this project has remained unchanged since we first started planning East San Marco,” said Eric Davidson, Regency Centers senior manager of communications. “We look forward to bringing a high quality, essential needs center to the area, and continuing the necessary steps to make it a reality,” he said by email Oct. 16. It’s been almost 20 years in the making. Davidson could not immediately provide a completion date. Jacksonville-based Regency applied for four permits for Publix, a Publix Liquors store and two retail buildings at construction costs totaling $9.7 million. New Fair Food Fest offers favorites Residents disappointed that the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic can taste what was lost at a new event. The Greater Jacksonville Fair announced Oct. 16 that the Fair Food Fest will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 14-15 at the fairgrounds. The weekend event will offer turkey legs, funnel cakes, corn dogs, kettle corn and more. There also will be live music and demonstrations. Wearing a mask will be encouraged when not eating and drinking. The Jacksonville Fairgrounds is Downtown at 510 Fairgounds Place. Admission is $10 a car, which includes parking and entry for all passengers. Passes can be bought online at jacksonvillefair.com.
