Culinary and food science company breaks ground on new facility in Flagler Center.

The Darifair headquarters and center are under development at 13129 Flagler Center Blvd. at northeast Gran Bay Parkway and Flagler Center Boulevard. The Flagler Center office and industrial park is south of Old St. Augustine Road between Interstate 95 and Philips Highway. Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q is coming back to life on Gate Parkway after the restaurant sustained fire damage in March and was demolished earlier this year. Bono’s President Josh Martino said Oct. 26 that the restaurant will be the first free-standing location the chain has constructed in several years. He hopes to open it by the spring. “This was a unique opportunity for us,” Martino said. “That building was built q u i te so m e time ago. The Martino restaurant industry looked a lot different and worked a lot differently.” Martino said the dining room will be smaller than before and a covered, outdoor patio will be added. A drive-thru will allow customers to pick up to-go orders. Five of Bono’s 20 restaurants have drive-thrus, he said. Inside, the area near the cashier

Jacksonville-based Darifair Foods, a culinary and food science company, broke ground Oct. 27 on its 47,500-square-foot corporate headquarters and innovation center in Flagler Center in South Jacksonville. Darifair CEO Andy Block called it a new era for the company. “For five generations our family has owned and operated food and dairy companies, but the Darifair we know today is completely different than the one we started 35 years ago,” he said in a news release. Darifair described the facility as “an integral part of Darifair’s future growth strategy since partnering with private equity firm Arbor Investments” in 2019. “We’ve advanced in so many ways and Arbor supports our vision for continued innovation; this facility is a huge nod to that commitment.” The Block family founded and continues to

Lululemon store coming to San Marco Square Lululemon intends to open at 2006 San Marco Blvd. in San Marco Square. The athletic wear company opened its first area store at St. Johns Town Center. It lists the San Marco location as “opening soon” on its website. Some job postings call it a seasonal store. The city is reviewing a permit application for Course Contracting LLC to build-out 2,960 square feet of space for Lululemon. JAA Architecture is the architect. The space is next to Maple Street Biscuit Company. San Marco Promenade apartments used it as a leasing office. Previous tenants include the Dancing Elephant boutique and the Addy Blue women’s clothing store.
