Packing materials manufacturer Malnove Holding Co. Inc. is asking the city for a $160,000 property tax incentive for a possible expansion in Jacksonville. The Mayor’s Budget Review Committee voted 7-0 Nov. 9 to approve the city Office of Economic Development request to file legislation with City Council for a five-year, 50% Recapture Enhanced Value Grant for Malnove. Omaha, Nebraska-based Malnove expanded to the city in 1981 and has 182 employees in Jacksonville. Thecompanyboughtasitein1998 at Imeson International Industrial Park in North Jacksonville and built a 235,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, according to the memo to city Chief Administrative Officer Brian Hughes. Malnove also leases 100,500 square feet of additional warehouse space. Wendland said the proposed incentive is a material factor in Malnove’s decision to expand in Jacksonville rather than at its manufacturing sites in Omaha or SEE MALNOVE, PAGE 2

Permit issued for Axionlog warehouse foundation Axionlog, the Argentina-based global restaurant supplier, is starting to build its proposed $15 million North Jacksonville warehouse. The city issued a permit Nov. 4 for V. Paulius & Associates to build the foundation at a cost of $55,000 on 8.76 aces at 11370 New Berlin Road. Plans show the Axionlog warehouse will start with 37,763 square feet of freezer and dry storage space and that it is designed for expansion to almost 105,000 square feet. JaxPort said in February that Axionlog intends to open the warehouse by early 2021 and and create 60 jobs within five years.
